This is our first visit to this quirky lovely little theatre. We were not disappointed. Fabulous inside, great bar, great food and super friendly staff. We saw a marvellous production of the Gap. With Denise Welsh and Matthew Kelly who were just Fantastic in this perfect funny and heartwarming tale. They drew you in and you felt like you were on the stage with. This show is on for a few weeks so get down to the Hope and have a ball. The food was really tasty, only a small menu but it was perfect. Good range of drinks at the bar and the crew were fab. The Hopes interior is very cool with a mix of shabby chic and paint it black it'll be fine. Great music played while we had our pizza and hummus. Go on give this place a bash you will not be disappointed. There is a small carpark so be early as it fills quickly.
First time visit so a big sign outside would have been helpful. But once inside a warm welcome from the staff and a perfect pizza, got me set up for a brilliant performance of The Taming of the Shrew from Her Productions. Could happily have stayed all night.
Just returned from our first visit to Hope Mill Theatre, watching Taming of the Shrew. What a wonderfully quirky theatre and amazing performance. We truly enjoyed it and it was my partners first time. He absolutely loved it. We will definitely be coming back. Friendly and welcoming staff and a fabulous night had by all.
Real atmospheric theater with wide range of entertainment. Good parking as well. My granddaughter has just won a talent show heat there for West End Calling!
The Hopemill theatre is my goto place for an escape , the owners and staff are so nice, the bar area is so sweet. The productions I have seen over the years have all been fantastic, some I have seen 3/4 times and loved each time.
What a wonderful, wonderful place. The people are lovely and welcoming, no standing on ceremony. Bar and food friendly and attentive and that’s before the theatre experience. I’ve seen 2 events here. Gap and Howard’s Way. Both innovative, superbly acted, challenging & funny. The theatre’s not big so the relationship with the actors is special and emotionally charged and challenging. I thoroughly recommend this place, long may they continue t offer their unique theatre experience. Jonny Michael
This little theatre is an absolute hidden gem! It doesn't look like much from the outside, you think you're pulling up to any old building we thought we were in there wrong place but when you go inside, beautiful! So much effort has gone into this diamond in the rough that absolutely more people should know about it. The beverage counter was very reasonably priced for a theatre, in Manchester, we got a chai tea and coke for for just over £5! They had a good selection of soft drinks, teas, coffee, and alcohol along with a good variety of snacks olives in a can! We attended for a child's drama workshop, run by Hope Mill staff. The lady who ran it I'm really sorry, I can't remember her name! She was amazing. Our child has additional needs and catering to him, whilst also running a group was very impressive. The performance they put on was excellent. The upcoming shows looked very good. All in all, an absolutely brilliant place to visit!!
This was my first time at Hope Mill Theatre and I went to see The Taming of the Shrew with my parents. The theatre space is lovely, we arrived early and took advantage of the bar and restaurant where we had lovely pizza and Snug berry's ice cream. The staff were all very friendly, and very helpful - especially to my Mum who uses a stick to walk. All of the facilities, even the theatre are on the ground floor which really helped with my Mum's mobility needs. For this production, the stage was in the centre and the audience were sat around which provided a thoroughly immersive show. In the interval I spoke with staff there who said thre are a number of configurations depending on the show, so I will look forward to many more. The Taming of the Shrew was absolutely brilliant, it was an all female cast and their costumes and set were fabulous, Their interpretation of the play was also very interesting. I would definitely recommend the show and the theatre to anyone, one of the best productions I have seen in a long time!!
Detailed review below Food Atmosphere Cost Service This is a nice small theatre venue located in an old mill. Lovely and atmospheric with a lot of character. The waiting/lounge/cafe/bar area is pretty cool too with a nice cosy communal vibe. They do serve food but the menu is quite limited to pizzas and sides. However, the pizzas 9" and 12" are pretty good and a great option as a quick meal before the show. Production of the shows I've been to have always been top notch!!
The bar area is small and cosy with seating / tables for approx 30 or 40 people. Food is available - pizzas and the like made in an open plan kitchen next to the bar. Unisex toilets with no private section for males - urinals directly opposite the toilets. A bit bizarre and awkward when exiting the toilet cubicles. The theatre seats approx 100 people in relative comfort. The stage is at ground level so if sat in front row you're face to face with the actors! I took my 2 teenagers to see Oliver and it was an excellent performance. It was their first visit to a theatre and we all really enjoyed it but the music and the singing was very loud. Definitely love to go back again!!
