Manchester Opera House
"Originally The New Theatre, it opened on Boxing Day, 1912. It went through several iterations, being renamed once before becoming the Opera House in 1920. It's also been used for different functions; as a cinema in WW2, then a bingo hall before reopening as a theatre again in 1984. Since, it has hosted magnificent shows like Barnum and Phantom of the Opera."

It's a historic theatre. The team on site were very welcoming. As is usual the concessions were outrageously expensive £7.35 for a chilled 500ml bottle of Pepsi max and a pack of star mix. The theatre is very grand inside. Beautiful decor and details in the foyer and theatre. There are three tiers of seats. We sat on the lowest level, a few rows back from the front. The sound from my seat was fabulous and the show was brilliant. The seats are from a different time when people were much shorter than today. I was uncomfortable throughout I'm 1.96m with not enough leg room and arms which I could not move.
The leg room was fantastic at the end of the row. They could have more toilets but this is the norm in theatres. Lots of places to buy drinks and snacks. Definitely one of the best theatres I have been to.
Stunning venue. Went for the Burlesque show and was absolutely amazed!! Only thing to note, we pre-ordered a few drinks to our seats twice and neither showed up so I had to get up and chase down one the staff to get my purchases. Other than that lovely place highly recommend!
Went to see Burlesque the Musical. Sat in stalls row E20 and they were fantastic seats. Great architecture reasonable prices for consessions. Keep up the hard work guys
We love going to the theatre & living in Manchester is the perfect excuse. This is around our 4th visit here this year & it never disappoints. Shows are always well produced, and the sound is great & ordering food to seat in interval is an added bonus
Went to see the ELO Experience and they were fantastic. The opera house is a great old building, the seats are a little small, but we enjoyed the atmosphere of the venue.
We had a lovely time in Manchester Opera House. Prices are reasonable and the food/beverage booking system is great. There is a lot of stairs everywhere, so keep that in mind when booking. We’re looking forward to returning but would probably book seats on a lower floor for a better view.
went to watch burlesque here, it was fantastic, i’d recommend you get to the opera house 30 mins before the show starts and I didn’t know you couldn’t record shows lol
Loved seeing Ian McKellen in Player Kings, it was incredible. Had a great view from seat B39 in the gallery. The only downside was the seats in the gallery are very narrow with no armrests and quite limited legroom. Seats in the circle and stalls looked better. Just something to bear in mind.
Went to see 1974 ABBA tribute band. Shown into the venue very quickly despite a long queue. Plenty of drinks and snacks available in the foyer and also a bar area. The prices are quite expensive as are most venues. We were guided to our seats which were comfy and had a great view. I also arranged for drinks and crisps to be delivered to our seats during the break to avoid the queue, the were delivered right on time. All in all a very pleasant evening out.
