When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the hotel was fully covered by scaffolding and tenting. We were at no point made aware of this between booking in July and arrival. At 9am on the dot construction workers could be seen directly outside our window. No compensation was offered for this, despite the room being paid for in advance. Hotel seemed to struggle with basic requests such as an extra set of towels, which not only required us going to the front desk to retrieve, but also took upwards of 20 minutes once we were down there. Rooms were dirty, and the whole hotel had a musty/dirty smell to it. Best thing I can say is the location is great for south bank sight seeing, and not too far from the tube. But I would avoid this hotel at a minimum until the construction is completed.
We had an incredible stay! Perfect location, all kinds of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. The best part of the hotel: Tony and William!!! They are kind and made sure we were well taking care of. Always ensuring our well-being. Thanks so much Rooms: 5/5
This hotel was perfect for our London stay! The entire staff was very kind and helpful the entire time we were there! Clean rooms and a quality breakfast made for a great experience! Vadim and Alex at the front desk were extremely kind and helpful! Thanks Again! Nick
Absolutely abismal hotel!! Just about to fall asleep and a couple let themselves into our room!!! No tv channels, shower doesn’t drain, no view as scaffolding all around!! Breakfast room jam packed!! Got back to room and key card had been wiped!! Presumably last night as a couple tried to get in!! Never again!!! Avoid!!!!Rooms: 1/5
I had a fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Southwark, and I must highlight the exceptional service provided by Ecaterina. From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Her attention to detail and genuine care for guests truly set this hotel apart. Ecaterina went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met, offering helpful recommendations for local attractions and dining options. Her friendly demeanor and professionalism made my experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear that she takes great pride in her work and values every guest’s comfort. Thank you for a wonderful stay—I can’t wait to return!
A very good hotel in a very good location. All stations bus, metro, train are a comfortable 7-10 minute walk from the hotel. You can find restaurants, important grocery stores nearby. Amazon, M&S, Coop The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, the room is comfortable and clean. The hotel staff are really pleasant and kind. I highly recommend the hotel. Special thanks to András!
Pleasant check in, with status recognized. Quiet room requested & provided. The room was basic, but fit for purpose. Bed & linens OK, TV/WIFI/AC all worked as required. It is in the perfect location for what I needed. My only complaint was breakfast. On day one it was a ZOO more the fault of guests than the hotel. But the two coffee machines are located in a small area, where everyone lines up, and impedes those trying to access the buffet = very poor logistics. On day two I went for breakfast early, only to find what was without doubt YESTERDAYS bacon re-heated. It was as tough and chewy as an old bulls bum ! I got a very good pre-paid rate, which I think was OK. If I had paid the current overnight rate it would not have been acceptable value for money.
There was a terrible chemical smell in the room, and after just one night all my clothes and items i had in the room have the same terrible smell. This is unacceptable, especially when you need to wear these clothes the next day. Two days after leaving this room the smell is still in all my clothes. I was then given a different room upon request which was also smelly, but different - at least not that chemical smell that ruins your clothes. Would have given 3 /5 without this issue, but especially since there are 8 months old reviews which speak about the same problem, this isn't something just I have noted. The hotel should have fixed it by now. Location is good, apart from that its a no frills basic HIEX. There's no gym. Soundproofing is bad not uncommon in the UK you can hear everything through the doors. The hotel is currently being renovated so be prepared for workers in front of your window. Staff was generally friendly - no issue here. Rooms: Avoid 416
We really enjoyed the hotel. The location was good and walking distance to sights and the Borough Market. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean. I thought the room was a little small as we had 2 family rooms utilizing the not so comfy sofa beds. With the bed open, you can't utilize drawers or walk around the bed.Rooms: 4/5
The hotel is fantastically located only a few minutes walk from the Tate Modern, walking distance to a few tube lines and Waterloo station. The hotel staff Jessica was very kind and helpful. We flew into London early in the morning, after spending almost 24 hours on the plane, we were all exhausted, she checked us in early so we can have a shower and get changed, and she even offered biscuits. Though they are not that expensive, this nice welcoming gesture made us feel like home. Thank you!
