A proper pub from my past and now a proper pub with great atmosphere and really good food One of the best meals we have had Cooked to perfection and so tasty just a shame it is so far from home
Will definitely return! Me and my partner decided to try this restaurant out after seeing lots of good reviews. We ordered the rack of lamb and the steak and kidney pie, which were both absolutely delicious, and arrived quickly! Whilst the prices are a few pounds more than the average pub grub meal, we personally think it is worth it when the quality of food meets the price. Plus, all staff were friendly and engaging, which made this experience a memorable one. As is pretty obvious lol, we highly recommend :
We had an excellent evening! We were a walk in no booking but were given a lovely table. The food was excellent, really delicious and the staff were brilliant. One spotted that my friend had given me a present and realising it was my birthday, put a candle in our dessert and even sang to me! It was very sweet and Michelle appreciated. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.
Lovely place! Their food is excellent as well as their services . I've been there many times, tried most of the dishes and deserts and definitely I will continue to go. I highly recommend this place if you fancy a delicious lunch/dinner and quality time with friends/ family.
Went here for Sunday lunch with parents a few months ago. Great selection of dishes and service was great along with the food. Due back next month hoping for more of the same!
Great pub dates back to 16th century with new extension. Always as I have remember 33yrs ago when I was student in Reading. Located off A4047 and the drive there is always rewarding with the great view of English countryside to appreciate. Now with great kitchen and menu. Enjoyed the excellent cooking with my family . Friendly owner and staff, will help me keep my fond memory of the lost and found pub from the bikers club 33 yrs ago.
Sunday lunch portions were absolutelly tiny for the price, and the giant overdone yorkshire didn't make up for it. Not the best value. That said, The highwayman is a lovelly place to be, with large multi-level terrace and friendly atmosphere and good countryside vista. Parking: Limited parking
Food here is amazing the service is good staff very helpful and friendly, the wait for the food was reasonable, a nice lovely country inn, beautiful inside had seating for 8 people plenty of room on the table for everyone, this is a smart casual dress inn, shut a bit early tho at 9pm, we had a three course meal totalled to about £45 pounds with soft drinks
Whether rambling, local or just passing by this pub is a gem of a find. We only had a few pub snacks as the pub was surprisingly heaving. Every verge or parking space was filled but we managed to pitch up none the less. It was teaming with quirkiness as this seemed to be a place that was passed down by generations. Will be going back as the Sunday roasts looked unbelievable.
We came for Sunday roast with my partners family 5 adults and a child. Although the Sunday menu doesn’t say the staff very quickly inform us they do smaller portions of the menu items as well as scampi and fries for the kids which was great to hear. The staff were well informed about the menu. We were served by Billy, he was funny and could clearly gauge his audience. He interacted well with everyone at the table and made suggestions about the menu as well as upselling menu items at the right occasions in a non forceful way. You could tell he adapted to each table when interacting to suit the experience they needed whilst keeping a professional yet humerus persona. He comes across as an asset to your team which isn’t always easy to find in the industry.
