I could be here all day listing all the amazing qualities of the bird in hand! We had our wedding down the road & booked in here for us & our wedding guests. Every single one of our guests commented on how well appointed the rooms were, with really classy decoration & incredibly comfy beds! Our suite George the 3rd was like a slice of heaven. We didn't want to leave! The room was so elegant & comfy. The shower was the biggest I've ever seen & the roll top bath was to die for. The food in the restaurant was very good value & absolutely delicious. The best we've had in a pub setting! Lastly I have to comment on how incredible the whole team here are. Nothing was too much trouble & you made our wedding experience just that bit more special. Nothing was too much trouble & they were all so lovely! Thanks to the second in command who was just the nicest lady in the world, & Will the main man who dealt with my whole booking for months! We cannot wait to stay again.
Immaculate property. The bedrooms clearly renovated and decorated fairly recently and in mint condition. The pub and restaurant likewise and pub ambience especially great. Staff friendly and always willing to help. Meal quality we had two breakfasts and one dinner really top class. This chef seriously knows his stuff. Only small criticism we felt was the food menu was somewhat limiting. Wine list very good. Prices reasonable. Great position for visiting Maidenhead, Reading, Henley and Marlow - all within 20 minutes or less. Would happily recommend.
I stayed here for one night as my daughter was at a work event near Reading. First impressions were good; the building looked just as good as it does in the pictures. Checking in was pain free with the staff being very welcoming and friendly. The room I had was ground floor, across the courtyard to the pub. As I opened the door it was very welcoming with the room lit with lamps and classical music playing from the radio, a real nice touch. The room was a nice size, not huge but big enough to not feel cramped. The decor was very tasteful, and the furniture was of very good quality. The bathroom and shower were lovely and both rooms were spotlessly clean. There were extra little touches that really made you feel they had gone that extra mile to make you feel welcome. The welcome letter let you know all you needed and was addressed to me personally. The tea tray had a selection of posh teas, hot chocolate and a cafetiere with fresh coffee. There was a mini fridge with a selection of drinks if you wished to purchase, with a couple labelled as on the house, this was where the milk was kept. The tv was good, there was a decent hairdryer and, although I didn't need it, there was an iron and board in the cupboard. After a good night's sleep in a comfy bed, and after staying until last minute for check out at 11, we both enjoyed a good quality breakfast in the pub, which was also spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. All in all, I can honestly say I found no fault with this hotel whatsoever and very much enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would come back.
We booked several rooms for a family wedding My daughter has already eloquently commented here & had 26 people who stayed either 1 night or 2. The team were flexible, friendly, prompt & everyone commented that they enjoyed their stay. Our room was tidy & the breakfasts were very good! Well done everyone & thanks. Fantastic value too!
We recently celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary here with 35 friends and family. We had a fabulous evening where Will, Hannah and the team helped us arrange everything, nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and plentiful, we decorated the room as we wanted, our guests had an evening to remember and quite simply we could not have found a better venue. Thank you
Lovely room with some thoughtful features like a fridge/mini bar, great selection of drinks and even some lavender sleep spray for the pillows. The staff were really helpful and welcoming. Only improvement I can think of is that the room could be better lit - it was a bit dark, also an electric socket near to the mirror would be good for when using the hairdryer. All in all a really lovely hotel.
The bedrooms were recently renovated and decorated to perfection. The pub and restaurant were just as nice, with a great ambience. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. The meals we had were of top-notch quality; it's clear that the chef knows what he's doing. My only criticism was that the food menu was somewhat limiting. The wine list was very good, and the prices were reasonable. It's in a great location for visiting Reading, Henley, Maidenhead, and Marlow, all less than 30 minutes. I would happily recommend this place.
Lovely place to stay. On a busy road but we’ll set back & so remarkably quiet. Very comfortable rooms with everything you’d need for a stay. Really appreciated the fresh milk in the fridge. Such a bonus. Very welcoming staff & everything was very clean, very comfortable & very enjoyable. Rooms: Overall very good. One of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in apart from our own, A good temperature in the room too. Large towels in the bathroom & a big walk in shower. Having a fridge in the room was a bonus & very handy. Nothing negative at all. Nearby activities: Central for visiting the area & easy access to most places around. Food & drinks: Very good choice of breakfast items. The Croissants were amazing!!!! Noteworthy details: There was what appeared to be a Butcombe company meeting being held there when we were there. It was very refreshing to see people arriving & everyone genuinely pleased to see one another. There was just a very positive “buzz” about them all & showed a good reflection on work ethics & professionalism.
Just had a wonderful two night stay here. It's beautifully decorated with lots of character. Lots of sumptuous finishing touches and original beams in the large bar and restaurant. Food that we had was truly delicious. Breakfast was exceptional too ..all credit to the chefs. Rooms were equally lovely and well appointed with super comfy bed. Only small gripe would be that the bathroom grouting in shower area could do with a look at as looking a bit tired. Staff were wonderful.... efficient friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking too!
Back again for another overnight stay and dinner. Gave a very good review of our last stay here and I am delighted to say that the standards are as high once again. Great welcome, excellent room with all the trimmings and a well cooked satisfying meal in the evening. Well deserving of a 5 star rating!
