Where to Start! - The service is fantastic, whenever your drink is finished the staff are straight over with the service. - The Staff are amazing!! Very friendly and accommodating! - The Food is not just pub food, it is to the highest standard possible and the taste it out of this world - The View is phenomenal! Thankyou For all the Service. Definitely a place which is a above and beyond all the awards they have won.
Just been here for lunch with a bit of an unruly dog and I have to say the staff were amazing and couldn't of been more helpful, friendly and professional especially when the thunder and lightning rolled in followed by the torrential rain where they laid the table for us inside from outside. Fantastic location, fantastic food, fantastic service and really fussed over my dog and got her a bowl of water without even asking for it. I live locally so will most definitely be back again to try their other dishes
Exquisite establishment, highly recommended. Locally sourced fresh food there is a board that advertises how many miles the food has travelled, generally less than 20 of the highest quality combines to make some delicious dishes, many of which are seafood based. Specials menu and cocktails are available, as well as st austell brewery beers and ciders. Very well priced for high end meals like this. Service is exceptional, food arrives quickly, you are attentively and proactively checked to see if new drinks are required, etc. Stunning location on the estuary, outdoor, covered and heated seating is available. The car park fits 8x cars absolute maximum so plan your trip and peak times, there is some on road parking as well but again can be busy. Parking: Maximum 8x cars in on site car park. Some on street parking also available.
Perfect outside view with great outdoor heating. Brilliant service, well presented tasty food, not overly priced. Looking forward to my next visit.
We were an impromptu walk in on a sunny Saturday afternoon and had to wait all of 5 minutes on a scenic bench outside in the sunshine overlooking the river, hardly a hardship by any means! The staff greated us at the door ,were child friendly, polite and happy to chat while still leaving us to eat in peace which let's face it , nobody wants a hovering staff member asking how your food is when you have a mouthful! when our food arrived. There was a 45 minute wait on food. We arrived at 2.30pm having just missed the massive lunch rush but other dinners were still leisurely enjoying their drinks at their tables and not being hurried out to make space. It was very busy but not in any way stressful. The front of house were managing everyone really well and the general atmosphere was chilled and very enjoyable. There was a good selection of vegan dishes and our food was delicious. The screens between tables STILL even after covid restrictions have been lifted, shows that this business is intent on putting every aspect of their customers experience first and foremost. As a person shielding previously this was actually really heartening to see thanks you guys! All in all we loved our visit, the perfect end to a lovely day. We'll be back soon. Congratulations again on your success, your award was definitely well deserved! Vegetarian options: Beautifully made green Thai dish, loads of nibbles and all very fresh. Kid-friendliness: Crayons and activity sheet for children, children's menu was good and with lots of healthy options. Dietary restrictions: Dairy free option was available. Each dish is made from scratch so it was just a case of asking the lovely Rowan to put DF on my food order.
Thank you so very much. Beautiful location, we went here after our wedding for lunch and the ladies couldn't have been any more helpful and lovely and as a surprise we had complementary glass of bubbly. Beautiful meals. We cannot thank you enough for the lovely hospitality, this made our wedding day even more special. We will be back again. X
I visited the Heron Inn for a Christmas Lunch and was really pleased. The atmosphere is nice and cosy, with pleasant lighting, wooden furniture, a real fire. Having had some less-than-amazing experiences with other establishments recently, I was pleased to see that they offered a vegan option for each of the 3 courses side note: it's crazy that in this day and age this isn't standard. Yes, there was only one option for each, but they had clearly had thought put into each of them; they were proper dishes, not just placatory afterthoughts or a boring burger variant. *Yawn* Each of the courses was really good... with the possible slight exception of dessert. The chocolate ganache was great, and so was the lemon sorbet... but I'm really not sure they belong together. All in all, a great venue which I'll be recommending to friends, and visiting again in future. [Pictured are the starter and dessert. I ate the main before I remembered to snap it] Update: Visited again also pictured. Hummus was a bit overpriced for what it was, but banana blossom fish and chips was tasty and a good size. Vegetarian options: A good vegan option was available for each course
Lovely pub, great views over the river. Very good service from friendly enthusiastic staff. The Mussels are exceptional. Paella was good but rice a bit over cooked more like a risotto but very tasty. The menu is very fish orientated which we loved. Well worth a visit booking recommended Vegetarian options: Good menu range of vegetarian and vegan options Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming to families
Little bit disappointed. Heard great things about this place so visited with my family. My sister and myself had absolutely zero issues with our food at all, everything was standout for us. My ham hock terrine and halloumi burger were top notch. Her muscles and hake were stellar. But my dad had asked for a med rare steak and was served one that looked like it'd been microwaved for a decade, he sent it back and his next steak was still overcooked but edible this time. My mum had asked for a vegetarian paella and was served a fish one instead. When we were served our drinks the waitress spilled beer over my dad's phone and didn't even apologise. The waitress who caused the paella mix up, to her credit, was extremely apologetic and owned her mistake, offering us a free dessert. A different waitress handled the overcooked steak and spilled drinks and was a lot less apologetic.
We had been looking forward to visiting this place for over 3 years but, despite living less than 10 miles away, the opportunity hadn’t arisen. First off parking is a joke – the pub car park holds maybe half a dozen and the village is always jammed – we parked outside the village and walked the 10 minutes or so back. We didn’t see that as a problem as it was a sunny day and the dog got a few new sniffs but in wet weather or with limited mobility it would be a different picture. Service was friendly and attentive and, as the place was busy, the food took longer than usual to arrive – again not a problem. My lady opted for the rather pricey burger and it was OK if a little dry and overcooked, she summed it up by saying she’d had worse burgers but an awful lot of better ones. As it’s a famous fish restaurant I opted for the Bouillabaisse – a dish I have savoured in many countries including it’s homeland across the channel. Unfortunately, on this occasion I was both surprised and disappointed. My again by no means cheap dish consisted of a couple of small pieces of bread, 4 shell on mussels, 2 shell on prawns which were dry and overcooked, 4 small pieces of white fish and 2 small new potatoes halved but it was the sauce that really took the biscuit as it appeared to be a tin of tomato soup with nothing added. I was so hoping to be writing about a wonderful experience and hoped to have found a go to fish restaurant not far away – sadly all I can say is that it was expensive, awful value for money and average to very poor food. We won’t be returning
