Generally I would not write a review but feel strongly that some comments are more than unjust. I have been a patient since moving to the Haywoods in 1978 and my family and I have had marvellous treatment in that time. Over the years we have had the ordinary ailments we all endure but as we have aged our issues have increased and the doctors at Hazeldene have always been there to encourage and support. Most recently on returning from Tenerife I was struck down with a severe bout of bronchitis, my husband spoke to Rhonda and it was agreed a home visit was necessary. Dr.Simon, our new charming GP was despatched after his very first surgery. He spent time asking questions and examining me, there was no sense of rush just interest in my well being. I have had a follow up in surgery and all is going well. Personally I feel the inhabitants of the villages are lucky in having a very professional group of people looking after their welfare, it is so easy to look at the negatives, when really there are a lot of positives.

This surgery does not have enough capacity to meet the demands of patients.
Whether this is due to a lack of resources, a lack of effective management and leadership of the surgery or just plain incompetence I don't know but it's performance has been inadequate in my six months experience.
I have tried on numerous occasions to book an appointment only to be told there are none available for two, three or four weeks depending on time of year.
Getting a same day appointment is an absolute mission. You have to hope you are in luck and get through by 8.05am or 2.05pm to stand any chance.
There is also a lack of empathy and understanding from front line staff in experience.
That said it's performance it is not too dissimilar to other public sector bodies and organisations.

This morning I started to phone the surgery at 8.00am.At 8.25 I was put on hold .At 8.40 a receptionist answered. I asked for an appointment for my grand daughter who has earache for the third day. I was told to phone again or come to the surgery at 2,00pm, I would then be given an appointment for later in the day. I confirmed with the receptionist that she was saying I was to drive to the surgery, make an appointment, drive home, drive back to the appointment and finally home again with the child....she said Yes!
In addition to other commitments today, I have to collect another child from school at 3.20.
This system is not designed with the needs of the patient in mind.
I would like to discuss this at the earliest opportunity with the practice manager, the Care Quality Commission and the Health Authority
