Do the best they can, they are sometimes running late, it can be hard to get an appointment sometimes, but overall I've had a decent experience compared to another stafford doctors. There's one lady on reception whose paticularly friendly and helpful too! All the awful reviews appear to be from years ago too
Update to my previous review. Not sure what has changed but the phone is now answered and when I speak to someone they are friendly and helpful. So thank you for listening to the feedback.nI have been forced to register here due to moving into the area despite the NHS website advising you can stay or register at any convenient GP even outside of your home address as long as the GP is still accepting other new patients. Someone needs to tell the GP practices that nAnyway, after registering online without a problem government website I have been trying both one the phone and in person to make an appointment without success.nThe phone just rings out longest time I have waited before giving up is 48mins or is engaged. In person, the times I have been, the queue has been so long that I couldn't wait any longer so had to leave. I would love to register for online appointments but can't so that without a manual form from the surgery which I can't get as no-one answers the phone or the queue is too long.nThis place needs help. They clearly don't have enough staff to cater for the amount of people in the area and the ones they do have must be so stressed and worn out it wouldn't surprise me if they're snappy and short with people.nI've written to my MP about it. I would suggest anyone experiencing the same issues does just that too, as the more of us that highlight the problem, the more chance we have of someone taking notice and trying to help.
In agreement with some of the other reviews here of how poorly managed this surgery has become. I was given a window for a telephone appointment between 1pm and 3.30pm. I use my phone for work purposes and missed the call at 14.32. I rang the surgery immediately to tell them I think I'd missed my appointment and could the doctor please ring back, to which I was told I hadn't missed the call and I was next in the queue. I waited until 4pm for a call. I rang the surgery back to be told the doctor had left the surgery and there was a cross through my name. I now have to wait another 10 days for a reschedule. Appalling.
Just called to arrange an important but not necessarily urgent appointment. I expected apathy and urgency on the call but am glad to say I couldn’t have been more wrong. Julie was patient, empathetic and couldn’t have done more to find a solution for me. I can only assume that the overall low rating seen here is due to people being unhappy with the 8 o’clock rush. Hardly the surgeries fault.
Would have given no stars if I could, numerous problems lately just trying to get a repeat prescription first one was lost, so had to physically hand another in to ensure they got it, handed the last one in and asked at reception for one item to be double checked by the doctor as the Renal team from Stoke had increased the dosage and I would run out if it wasn't prescribed correctly . Surprise, surprise, prescription was wrong when I collected from Pharmacy! Will now be without one of my meds for a few days... Not naming names but last time I had a telephone conversation with one of the doctors they clearly hadn't reviewed my file/ notes as they wanted to prescribe things that weren't suitable based on my illness - good job I know what I shouldn't take. This practice used to be one of the best in town, I now feel reluctant to ring because you get the sense that you are an inconvenience rather than there reason for being there.nI am editing my review on 13/09/24.nThere seems to have been something of a step change in performance at Weeping Cross surgery over the last few months, all for the better! Hospital letters with guidance for the GP are now responded to, with a phone call to confirm this. Reception staff with the exception of one are attentive and in almost all cases follow up on queries raised, we all make the odd mistake. The call back system on the phone actually initiates a response. The only thing I cannot comment on is the availability of appointments as fortunately, or unfortunately as the case may be, most of my health issues have been dealt with by County or Stoke. I was rather critical in my previous review and feel it is only right to recognise the improvements made - well done and long may it continue...
