Basic station that has decent toilets, coffee shop and bring you right into Hampton Court as well as back into central London. Staff seemed a bit moody but I’m sure they have their reasons. The kind of station that I’m sure looked amazing as one point and now is just a bit run down.
Hampton Court station is a great way to enter the wonderful town of Hampton Court, connecting you with wonderful, interesting places such as Hampton Court Palace or won of the spacious parks. The station is in Zone 6, and is in a 2 platform configuration, so it allows plenty of space. A large car park is on site, with friendly staff happy to help you. Ticket barriers are in place in this station.
Hampton Court is located in the town of East Molesey and is served by Southwest Trains. As terminus on the branch, Hampton Court is a very busy station, it is used by commuters every day, the station is also located near the Hampton Court Bridge. Trains to Waterloo often depart from this station and are crowded during morning rush hour. There is a single Island platform at the station and two trains can be here at a time. The station is staffed, cleaned normally, and maintained every now and then.
Ticket barriers have been recently installed here at this station but are located in a stupid area, blocking off the toilets, the shops, 90% of the canopy and oh yeah, ALL of the seats on the platform!nnWhy are all of the seats behind the ticket barriers?! There are no seats on the platform and barely any shelter. It's such a badly designed station and isn't capable of handling the crowds heading to Hampton Court. At least the station is located quite close to the point of interest.
Two platforms, toilets free, and vending machine. If you're coming to visit Hampton Court Palace, and you're near the District Line Baker Street, South Kensington, Earl's Court, I recommend you take the District Line southbound to Wimbledon. From Wimbledon, you transfer onto a national rail train SouthWest, and get off at Hampton easy 5 minute walk from the station. It's far quicker than going via Waterloo, if you're near the District Line, and it's cheaper too. You don't need to tap in/out when you get Wimbledon to change trains. Just don't exit the station at Wimbledon, otherwise YOU will be charged, TWICE. Yes, you can use Oyster or Contactless if you're going to Hampton Station.
