Awesome seitan and jackfruit burger with a delicious pint of Abbeydale Moonshine. Great menu with loads a surprising amount of veggie and vegan options! Great location! A Proper English Pub!!
When someone asks me what it is about pubs and drinking, pubs such as The Flying Childers give me the perfect response: Cosy, welcoming, intimate and full of character. Add to that, great beers and log fire. A lovely experience.
What a great little pub this is! Head out to the Seven Sisters, Druids Caves or Robin Hood's Stride in the morning, then head here for a delicious lunch and a friendly welcome! But get there early, as it is popular and busy! My wife, daughter and I had a light lunch: ham & cheese toastie, ham sandwich and pea and ham soup. Finished up with brownie & ice cream and Bailey's Coffee. With refreshments, we paid £37 which we found very reasonable and went away very satisfied. The small Christmas market which they were hosting was a pleasant surprise. Our daughter had a great time with the hustle and bustle that comes with a cosy pub and had a great chat about her ice cream while she waited Already planning our next visit, with family, later this month.
Lovely traditional pub with great beer, wine, spirits and food.
Went in here with dog after a walk. Richard greeted us with warmth and was incredibly accommodating to us and the dog. The drinks were great and I was impressed with the menu, especially with a wide range of options for vegetarians and vegans. The kitchen is run by Sophie, Richard's wife who also is lovely. After a few drinks, a full stomach and a chat with the local Geordie yes, had to bring that in being half Geordie, and that Richard is also a Geordie. We left full and merry. The only criticism I have is that this is not my local pub.;-
My favourite pub with the friendliest of owners. We take our dog over fairly regularly and we are always greeted with the warmest of welcomes. Sophie and Ric will make you feel like you're in your good friends living room. Best to mention their accolades: best pub for dogs 2021. They have 3 lovely puppers of their own and know how our little friends love to be treated, with lovely fires and treats for all including the canine menu treats. Check out their menu, you'd be surprised how many options they have, especially vegan specials and warming soups. If you need a friendly and warming place to rest, look no further. These guys will sort you out!
Really friendly staff who did everything they could to make sure we were happy. There was a large group of us who had pre-booked and included several different dietary requirements and we all thought it was great. The food was fabulous and the landlord even gave me a teabag from his own personal kitchen when I asked for a fruit tea. Couldn't recommend this place enough
Fantastic afternoon spent eating plant based burgers and drinking great pints. Lovely warm welcome on a cold day. Will definitely be back! Thank you!
What a fabulous traditional pub. My son and I had a lovely lunch after a walk around Stanton Moor. We would both highly recommend it.
