Been today after a hike, lovely little pub, catered for dogs as long as they are not on the furniture. Food was really amazing espically for the price. Definitely recommended.
Beautiful views! The walk to town is fun if you don't mind the steep roads The room was spacious, nice and warm. But we had multiple little issues with items in the room. Rooms: Rooms needed things fixing.
Friendly staff welcome you to this traditional inn. Food is hearty and plenty of it. Our room had a lumpy uncomfortable bed, a TV which didn't work and a high window with no curtain which let in the street light all night. We're early risers, but breakfast wasn't until 9.00, with no flexibility.
Went for one night, hospitality try very poor no milk .not serving food so had to drive to matlock. Was having a drink in bar then at 10/25 told 5 minutes to last order not a good choice of drink .staff poor ,water pressure very poor in shower rooms very basic Rooms: Basic
Went for a Sunday roast and although the portion size was good the quality was as good as a ready meal roast you could get at a tesco, frozen veg, frozen roast potatoes, smash for mash. I'm sure if you go for a pint it's perfect but avoid for food, unless that's your thing
Only giving it 2 stars because the bed was OK. The room number 3 smelt of wet dog and had stains on the carpet. I wasn't expecting much but this was even worse. It's a basic room, OK decorated, apart from the surfaces bubbling up on some of the cheap furniture and a broken blind. But the ensuite shower and toilet...it stinks. The strong smell of mould and damp is disgusting. You can see mould around the pipes and the large grey stain under the tiny sink is probably mould too. We'd booked breakfast but we were put off by the unhygienic standards of the room so didn't bother. So annoyed we paid £80 for this room.
We had a great pub lunch, with a good choice. A lovely view of Riber Castle. The lady at the bar was very friendly and helpful. Will go again.
Don't pay their staff for 3 weeks worth of work. All meals are ready meals and all apart from gammon is frozen. Rude owners. Avoid. Dirty smelly roomsRooms: 1/5
Just had 4 night stay. Bed like a brick! Room is basic but cosy, shower nice & hot. Room feels damp & needs updating, all a bit tired. Only had breakfast once-my husband said his fry up was nice. My “continental” breakfast was just cereal & toast?? Chef refused to do me a poached egg when I asked! Not the best staff attitude! This place is in a good location beware the steep hill into Matlock, basic accommodation. For good price of £60 a night it’s ok
We stayed last night in our motorhome very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere in the pub meals were spot on thankyou hopefully see you again soon x
