We came here at the start of a 4 hour walk through the most peaceful countryside one could wish for. The staff here are brilliant, very friendly, and very welcoming. They go above and beyond to make your visit special, and really take the time to look after you during your visit. We returned back here for dinner, and the food is sublime. I had the steak, which was probably the nicest steak I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and the truffle and parmesan chips were a delight. Kid-friendliness: Lots of little ones enjoying themselves. Parking: A large car park opposite the pub with ample space for about 20 cars. Wheelchair accessibility: Low steps and plenty of moving space.
we booked a table for 6 and we had a nice little room for only us. the menu was not extensive but the meals we ordered were delicious. the beef cheek was tender and tasty. the chicken, ham and leek was good. venison sausages were also tasty.
We went to meet and eat with friends. We phoned and booked a table the day before. Welcoming, friendly and the waitress had an amazing sense of humour! The menu had options for me as a dairy intolerant which was good but no dessert option. The food came quickly after we'd ordered despite being busy and tasted amazing. Would recommend but book a table in advance as it filled up quickly. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available and vegan starters and main course. Parking: Loads of parking available
Great friendly staff that was more than helpful, we arrived 10 minutes before food was stopping being served at 8pm as they close at 9pm,we had been on a walk with the dogs. The staff was more than welcoming and helpful ,we was served amazing food and was very dog friendly had the option to be seated inside or out fresh water and treats on the bar for the pooches.Highly recommend I will be returning Vegetarian options: had vegetarian options available Parking: large car park
Good food and beer and a friendly welcome, but let down by being ignored in favour of other customers, so couldn't get served another drink after the meal. Unfortunately this put a dampener on an otherwise enjoyable experience. Parking: Plenty of parking in the pub's car park immediately opposite the pub.
Nice pint in a nice setting. Its a perfect place to finish a walk over Stanton moor. We didn't sample the food but it did look very good. There is plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor tables. Well worth stopping in for food and drink.
Food was incredible and reasonably priced! We had the faggots and the steak and Stilton pie Nice selection of ales and a big car park.
Party of eleven five adults and six children for a celebration meal, Saturday lunchtime. We were welcomed and made to feel really comfortable. Delightful room and decorations. The meals were superb and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. What a success!
We were in the area on a weekend break. Booked a table for 5 for a Sunday dinner, had our little private room. Staff was very friendly. The Sunday roast lamb for half of the group, and vegetarian nutroast for the other half was absolutely delicious! The portions were big enough, plenty of veggies served and staff very quick to respond to any requests extra pot of gravy, extra pot of custard . The puddings were amazing too-each of us ordered a different one, so we could try them all!!All in all, great pub Vegetarian options: The sunday nut roast dinner was amazing!!! Kid-friendliness: Kids and dogs welcome Parking: Good size parking
Had lunch today, absolutely excellent. The landlady has found her true calling, obviously enjoys what she does. Food was top notch and not the usual pubgrub rubbish, and definitely homemade. A request for potatoes instead of bread gluten free was met with enthusiasm and humour and the whole visit was memorable. Can't wait to go back! Thank you Liz x
