Been a frequent visitor for the last 20 years, service is always excellent with a lot of staff knowing their customers by name, love the chicken curry and chips!!!!
Good beer, decent prices and a great traditional look inside
Fantastic bar with great experienced staff. Great selection of Ale's
Good beer garden, great ales and beer selection, drinks and meals are varied. Good location in the city. Broad spectrum of folks visit there. Many happy times in my student, work and performing / busking days: 1995 to 2000s. Matt Dring
Awesome pub with great live music. I've got to say that as my band was playing. Decent atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks.
Solid local pub. Not too expensive when you compare the quality to others these days.
Excellent real ale pub just near the Travelodge in Sunderland. Live sports. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
The are known for their chicken curry and chips for good reason. It's a great portion size, great taste at a fantastic price. Love to go there earlier in the day for a quiet pint of Guinness. Great beer selection also. I've been going for years as it has a relaxing, traditional pub atmosphere. If you can get a window seat, even better. They have a beer garden also if you'd like to drink outside.
Had a couple of hours to kill in Sunderland, so meandered over to Fitzgerald's to check it out. The pub was larger than imagined and had several distinct seating areas, including one named The Chart Room, obviously reflecting the nautical history of the locality. There were tables for dining and a bar featuring four or five real ales, all from local breweries within a twenty mile radius. In addition were the usual lagers plus popular Continental beers, and a wide selection of spirits. Food was available all day, although I believe ordering ceased at 21.00. Decor was traditional if somewhat brown, which when combined with the low degree of illumination, produced a rather gloomy atmosphere, slightly enlivened by the attentive and pleasant bar staff. There were two or three television screens, at the time of the visit showing sport; however, these wer not too intrusive, and it was possible to enjoy a quiet drink. Worth a visit.
Lovely quiet little local pub with plenty of real ales & beers to offer, good selection of gins and spirits too
