Lovely Grade II listed small pub in Sunderland City Centre, sympathetically and carefully refurbished to a high standard. The bar, walls and ceiling are a treat to stare at. Thoroughly recommended to visit. highly recommended place to enjoy an ale and the choice on hand-pumps is vast, well-kept and wide range, including cider and porter.

The building itself took my breath away. I love visiting old pubs. Had few drinks with my group of walkers/runners and really enjoyed being at the pub. The staff behind the bar was quite friendly as well.

If you want a great traditional pub with unbelievable decor, and open fire and fantastic ales. Go here!

Great pub , near the Sunderland Empire, was one of my favourite pubs back when I was a student.. has not changed too much, has benefited from a clean and thorough restoration. Back to its Edwardian grandeur. Beer is always good in it and snuggled up next to a roaring fire is an added bonus

Great, popular pub serving a good selection of real ales. Friendly welcome, comfortable good looking bar & lounge. Lack of screens & loud music a bonus! Dropped one star for absence of any snacks.

Great bar, old school. Decent prices nice staff, proper fireplace. Good space and proportion to standing and seats too
