Used to be a great chippy, sadly not anymore. Fish rubbery with poor batter, chips taste like they use the wrong oil and mushy peas like soup. Was cooked fresh and was hot but took over 10 mins for basics. Will be going elsewhere in future
Care is taken over the food and fish is not stacked up drying out, which is good news for customers such as myself. Portion sizes are decent and the shop looks clean. Staff are always pleasant and professional. This is all very acceptable as I live very locally.
I have been looking for a Chinese takeaway for ages, that i feel i won't think afterwards, WELL THAT WAS A WASTE OF my money! I have heard good things about fish king. So on a nice day after a stately home walk just outside of Leeds i thought i would pre order knowing i would be about a hour i placed my pre order, when i arrived 5 minutes early they where busy totally understandable. Didn't mind waiting. But then people where ordering that hadn't pre order a hour before and getting served before me. Fine i understand somethings are ready before others so get them out but i waited a good half hour if not more. Got home i ordered a special dish, it was like dish water tasteless! Only saving grace was that i ordered curry sauce so had to mix it in with that! Mix starter everything was over fried, the won tons had no filling! Thimg it fell out being in the fryer to long! Waste of money tried to complain said you never rang up on the day. It was too late by the time you gave me my food and i got home.
Good food but unbelievably, this place does not accept cards. I'm always suspicious of places that only accept cash with regards to their tax - I'm not accusing them of anything though. When you're charging nearly £10 for a large fish & chips and some pease, I think there is sufficient margin to pay 30-40p for your customer's convenience of paying how they would like to.
Food is great! Tastes fresh. No chewy, watery chicken in sight! Chicken balls have actual meat in side not just batter. Best Chinese I've had in York!
Has got to be the most Surreal chippy ever. 15 minute wait for sausage and chips!! Nothing is ever ready ... everything cooked to order ,even the chips! Indifferent, no customer service skills. It's a chippy . .ffs. a fast food outlets. If I wanted to wait 20 minutes for a meal, id go to a restaurant. Effing appalling service ... go somewhere else!
Mmmmmmmmm tasty. Good food and good quality fish with reasonable price. Very nice lunch time specials on offer. Please give a thumbs up after reading my review please
Very pleasent people and good food cooked to order well it was for me. Very much more a Chinese takeaway now but still offer the chippy menu.
Genuinly had the worst fish and chips of my life. Mushy peas where like soup, fish was completely tasteless and the batter was rock hard in places. They should stop doing fish amd chips and stick to chinese.
A great place for the true york fish and chinese food experience. The owner is a gem! Extremely pleasant place to eat with excellent service and good price
