The farmer was fairly grumpy when we stayed here. It was feb and no one else was there but he made us camp through a load of mud rather than near the path. The facilities aren't that great. He also had an argument with us when we first drove in to see if our friends had turned up already. One of these places that is run like a little empire with lots of rules enforced.

Great campsite, friendly staff and clean facilities. It's an ideal starting point for some great walks, it's close to the railway station, 2 pubs and some shops. Then there's the great scenery to take in and enjoy too. My favourite campsite in the Peak District! It does get booked out so ring in advance to check they have pitches available.

Stopped here on 24/6/17 with my two young daughters ( both under 6) and was please with the site, toilets were spotless and the site was set out well, after I pitched I managed to lock the keys in the car! With our stove and food in the car! Mark and Sam couldn't of been more helpful, after finding me a locksmith on their PC,they then shown the locksmith to my car while I were at the local pub feeding the girls, what could of turned into a disaster of a trip was all sorted within a couple of hours and we enjoyed the rest of our stay

We stayed here with another family on Friday 25th Aug for 5 nights. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. The campsite is beautiful and well kept whilst remaining natural for the wildlife. There was plenty of space and choice to pitch our tents. We settled in a beautiful area by the stream. The facilities were great with a fridge/freezer to use, washing up area and hot showers ( 20p per 2 minutes) The campsite is in a great location and quiet despite our children! We had a really enjoyable stay and did plenty of walks, Grindsbrook, Lose Hill, Hollins Cross to Castleton and Jacobs Ladder. Sadly our son lost his beloved jellycat Bunny toy along the lane to the local shop on the first day. We looked EVERYWHERE with no luck. The staff at the campsite were lovely and sympathetic and offered a jellycat Dog toy which was very similar looking, and although upset thankfully our son took to him well.
Overall a fantastic stay. Only slight downside was that the local shop wasn't the best stocked and quite expensive so we had to travel into Hope and Bamford to get supplies. The Coopers Chippy was good and Nags Head served good food too. We will definately return. Many thanks!
