Our 2 tires were vandalized and we called their road side assistant team. When the man arrived he we asked him "how much and who is paying for the service call?" and he says don't worry about it. He changed all 4 tires even though it was not necessary. When we returned the car the staff says nothing about charging us on the replacement so we were a bit relieved. But Europcar sent an invoice to us a month later saying we are liable for the cost of 4 tires. I will not take this non sense and will certainly report this to consumer protection. I will not recommend this car rental company to anyone.
Europcar you are the best! Thank you for providing me with such an amazing experience of hiring a car from yourself. I loved the car that I hired and such an easy process to check in and super easy returns. Loved everything and looking forward to hiring from you again soon.
Impossible to call the branch directly, so ended up paying more for a hire when it could have been avoided. The fact I can't call them directly is not their fault - I accept that it is a business decision. Central call centre give misleading and conflicting information - including telling me the branch was open 10 minutes after their advertised closing time. I understand the call centre approach saves money - but from a customer care perspective it just doesn't work.
Rented a van at the beginning or the year. Extented the rental via customer services but they failed to inform me that the depot wasn't open to return the vehicle at the time I had extented it to. No key box to return key. Returned the next time they were open as soon as they were open. They kept my deposit. Still no response on when they will return it And they took an additional £328.16 over a month later. Avoid at all costs
My car was hit and the insurance company - Marshmallow, arranged for this rental car company - Europcar to provide me with a courtesy car. The driver delivered the courtesy car to my house but didn't ask for my signature, instead, he just inserted the keys into my front door mailbox and left. Ridiculously Europcar requested that I personally deliver the signed documents to their office your employee did not ask me to sign the document in person, and now you are requesting me to personally deliver the document back to your office? Is this the proper way to treat a customer?. Afterward my car is repaired, the garage delivered it back to my home without notice, and the staff of garage said he will drive the courtesy car back to their garage. Europcar will directly retrieve the courtesy car from their garage I just immigrated to the UK, and I don't know if this is a normal practice, but the driver emphasize that it is normal in the UK, said no worries. Two days later, I received an invoice from Europcar by email which is charging me for petrol fees. I can understand this, but when I returned home that day, I only discovered that the driver said he need to take the courtesy car away. At that time, I didn't think about returning the car with a full tank of petrol, and then I received a very unreasonable fuel charge. I sent two emails to Europcar to express my dissatisfaction and explain the situation when I returned the courtesy car I understand that I need to return the courtesy car with a full tank of petrol, but the problem is I had no idea the garage driver would suddenly ask to take it away. I requested that the fuel cost be charged based on the actual market price, but I did not receive any response. After that, I returned to my hometown for three weeks. I did not receive any email, phone call, or SMS reminder from Europcar during that period. When I returned to the UK, I received a letter from Shakespeare Martineau which is pursuing the debt on behalf of Europcar, with a late payment charge of £40. From day one I have never received an original invoice from Europcar, only electronic ones, which do not mention any penalties for late payment. I finally settled the invoice payment to Shakespeare Martineau before the deadline. At the same time, I emailed the payment receipt to Europcar and Shakespeare Martineau, emphasizing repeatedly that the £40 late payment charge is unreasonable. I won't bear this unreasonable charge. Two weeks have passed and I just received an email from Shakespeare Martineau, saying that I haven't paid the outstanding debt. Today, I called Europcar to inquire about it, but the staff said they don’t know what’s happening and asked me to call another number for further information. And then I waited for 20 minutes, and in the end, they asked me to leave a message saying they would call me back. I have been living in the UK for 2 years, and sincerely, many of my friends have had to contact insurance companies for claims due to traffic accidents. Many of them say that Marshmallow Insurance Company's handling of insurance claims is poor. I really didn't expect it to be this bad. I am the victim, my car got hit. The other party says it's a company car and asks me to claim compensation from their insurance company. I didn't expect that later on, Marshmallow, the law firm and Europcar would all constantly seek opportunities to charge fees from me or the other party. This is simply an all-in-one scam that insurance companies have taken advantage of government regulatory loopholes and expanded. Under the guise of claims insurance, actually providing various services under different pretexts and then charging exorbitant and unreasonable fees. I will give Europcar a negative review and raise awareness to their opaque operations. In any situation, whenever individuals file a claim with their insurance company, it is always the citizens who end up being the victims while these businesses benefit.
Hired a van and it had not been prepared properly and had a warning light on the dash for adblue. The following morning on my way to work a message popped up saying 140 miles until the engine stops unless adblue added. Rang the branch and they said take it to the nearest branch to save me having to add it myself. This wasn’t convenient so spent £14.99 to add some myself. Explained this at vehicle return and gave them my receipt and told that they would speak to a manager. Had no contact and £14.99 out of pocket as they gave me a vehicle that wasn’t properly prepared
I used first time this company to rent a van. The van was spotless, new car, only 7000 miles on the clock, the team friendly, eplaind everything clearly, offered other services. Overall great experience, I recommend to use.
Absolutely unacceptable communication and customer service. If I book a 4pm return I don't want to be told on pick up you have changed it to 1pm! Outrageous. I contacted customer service who said basically bad luck ! We aren't doing anything about it
Good prices unless you take the add ons, that a lot of places give you included. £9 a day to protect glass. £1600 excess. Person in front of me was told £100 security deposit, mine was £250. When I asked why, it was because they upgraded me without telling me. So I asked to be downgraded, and they couldn't.
