Value hotel.nnNormally stay at either the Travelodge or the Premier Inn, there cheapest price was £110 for the night we needed. The Elmhurst was only £58.nnRoom was spacious, a desk, one bedside cabinet and a small cupboard and a flat screen TV.. Attached was a toilet, sink and shower room, small but functional.nnProsnPlenty of free spacious parking.nWarm welcome at reception.nTowels and sheets all clean.nComfortable bednStaff all friendly and very welcomingnBar at receptionnGood central locationnBlackout blinds on curtainsnnConsnDated furniture and carpetsnBathrooms are functionalnnYes this isn't the same standard as a Travelodge, but let's be fair, your room is half the price of theirs for the same night, and the staff are warm and welcoming. If you are in need of a budget stopover, this is a very good option.
Really gross hotel unfortunately, there was hair in my bed from a previous guest, the room smelled like damp and there was visible mold in the mirror, the carpet was wet to the point that my socks got wet too. Positives: absolutely lovely person working in the reception, shower was warm, sink in the room allowed me to brush teeth in the room instead of shared toilets/bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Was able to check in late in the night after the reading festival.nDespite the positives, exected better for a 3 star hotel that cost nearly 50 pounds a night - have stayed in way nicer hostels for way less money.
It's dated yes. But a decent bed, coffee and tea in room and very clean. Staff very polite. Very good value for money, good location in quiet but safe area. Cannot complain. If I need I will come back there.
Host was very friendly BUT! Rooms were disgusting looks like they don't even have a cleaner sadly. Needs a major refresh and some effort put in. £85 a night as well its a bit of a joke I'd avoid it unless you are desperate like we were.nOnly bonus was great ample parking
Described as 'Passable' you never really know how bad it could be. I was pleasantly surprised, it's definitely rough on the edges and not exactly holiday worthy but it's a very functional cheap and cheerful hotel. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. A side note, someone in our group slipped on some loose carpet and the stairs were steep and narrowit's an oldish building pretty quirky. It didn't really affect us, we're young and fit but something to think about. Good value for money
