Unfortunately I wouldn't have put a one star. I have always used Eastcoast and when one of our party were worse for where I knew where to take her to get a lift home. We walked into the depot on Station Road, Whitley Bay. The girl behind the desk took the details. (To Low Fell = £20). My friend was outside and did end up on the floor as very drunk but not sick. The girl went into the back and obviously spoke to a manager but didn't say a word to me. He came out at the same time the driver turned up. The manager said I don't think he will take her. I approached the driver and asked him if he would take her. He said that he wouldn't. I asked him if I went with her to low fell and came back with him how much would it be? He said £40. (We were coming back to Whitley Bay). But he then said no he wouldn't take her as she might be sick and I should put her on the metro. I asked him if he had a daughter and he said 'yes'. I asked him if he would be happy for her friends to put her on the metro and he said 'yes'. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to put a young vulnerable woman on the metro to get them home and if something happened to his daughter he would be the first to say that they should have looked out for her. I feel let down and disappointed with the lack of service we have received from East Coast tonight and I will never recommended them to anyone. Totally disgusting.

Always had fab service. Reliable, taxi drivers I felt I could trust . I think the complaint about a girl who was 'worse for wear' not being accepted as a passenger was fair by the firm. Maybe the person complaining should have taken her home and looked after her instead of trying to put her in a taxi where she could have been sick and choked to death.
