Amazing food the best place we have found in rugby by far. The waitress Emily was very attentive even offered to change my husbands drink if he didn’t like it. The flower pit desert I highly recommend it was the star of the show edible flowers and terracotta pot. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning very soon x
From the moment I booked a large table, Michelle the manager, was more than accommodating. We were also staying the night and had booked two rooms. The person who booked us in could see we had booked two rooms upstairs, however had a visually impaired guest staying and asked if we would rather a room downstairs for him. Yes! Please! She sorted out a room downstairs in her stride and made sure it was easily accessible for him. I can’t tell you the last time I had caring and conscious service like this, even at the best hotels. We then had the greatest dinner service I have had in a long time by Molly, our server. As someone who has been in hospitality for a very long time and is very picky; the starter was on our table in 15 minutes it’s always busy here! and our mains followed swiftly after they were cleared. I couldn’t fault my steak which was perfectly medium rare as requested and the other 6 guests at our table were as happy as myself. In a very trying time in this industry, the Dun Cow is showing us all how it can still be done with professionalism, kindness and fantastic service. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! What a joy it has been to stay with you x
Two of the three meals arrived well before the third, so chips although tasty, were chilling quickly. The kedgeree fishcakes were really delicious, we'd all chosen them and enjoyed them. The hot drink with small dessert was a winner all round and the dessert was just the right size. Friendly staff, good atmosphere.
Lovely venue for a sunday roast. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and we got seated by one of the many open fires they had going. Food was generous and delicious though the roast potatoes could have been crisper. Our server Debbie was wonderful. Very chatty and open with us. Couldn't ask for better service really!
Open fire nice but far too hot for the small room, plus radiator on full blast. Waitress opened a window to cool it down. What a waste of fuel. Service was terrible. We were there for an hour before our food order was taken. Then an hour after the main we had to ask for the plates to be cleared and see the dessert menu. Kedgeree fishcakes were bone dry and couldn't taste or see any fish in them. Poached egg with it totally overcooked. Chips scrappy. Ice cream portion minute. Poor value for money.
Good choices on menu. Fair prices. Good food, good portions. Lovely ambience. Lovely staff. Very busy so booking recommended. Parking is quite difficult at times as it's a very popular pub, even though it has its own carpark!
Lovely place, we all enjoyed our Sunday roasts. Shame about the cauliflower cheese. We were taken care of by the lovely young lady Mollie. She was great with us, and very helpful! Definitely returning again. Thank you Mollie and team!
The staff are all wonderful and the food is okay. It costs about the same as the harvester but uses more expensive ingredients so I guess overall it's okay for the price? Unfortunately I have come to expect any reservations to be overbooked, so you will have to wait for a table either way. Also expect some of the ingredients to be missing, and for them not to be replaced or given a discount for. Overall I wouldn't choose to go there, but I'd go if somebody else wanted to.
Had a lovely evening dining here. Beautiful food from set Mother’s Day menu which was very reasonable. The very lovely Mollie served us and looked after us - no request was too much trouble! She was brilliant. Highly recommend.
It's the first time I've actually even though I've passed it for years I had the black forest flower which actually looks like a and decaf latte. The coffee was very good. I loved that it was full of open fires, so it felt really cosy. The staff were really nice. I would definitely like to go for Sunday lunch sometime.
