We are a family of 5 with 2 dogs and stopped here for Sunday Lunch after a morning walk. The Landlady and staff were superb, accomodating us and the 2 dogs. Very friendly, lunch and deserts were superb and even the dogs were well fed! Highly recommended and we are all looking forward to stopping by again soon!
This was my first visit to the Barley Mow. Having arrived by canal boat. The pub sits beside the Newbold Tunnel with easy access to both local amenities and the tow path walks. So it's a package of relaxing with a drink, pub grub and real ale too. At 3pm the locals were watching international cricket and service from lunch just ended. The staff were welcoming as is the decor traditional and welcoming too. A proper canal side pub!
My favourite pub in Rugby and there are plenty to choose from!. Always a friendly welcome, great beer 2 or 3 well kept ales always on tap and good food. Kids can play in the big garden and the canal runs at the back of the pub allowing you to walk off dinner!
We have passed this place on the way down in our barge.... it looked a bit ordinary, however, we turned and stopped. The meal was outstanding! Where do you find a lattice as fresh as if being picked 5 min ago at 20.00 pm? All our 3 meals were excellent! .... It casually assumed no fuss for such quality and it was memorable.
Came for a drink. Fairly good pub. Good drinks and garden area. I'd also like to point out that the glass came out of a cold fridge. The kids play area is ok but needs some maintenance, the swings are annoyingly squeaky and the area is a little bit muddy.
We went here after staying local in the area for a birthday after reading reviews saying the food was really good. The one star was purely for the staff being pleasant. The food was quite frankly awful, and some of it inedible. I had a buttermilk chicken burger, the bun was as if it had been left on the side for a week it was stale, and the chicken burger was a piece of birdseye chicken. The pizza ordered by my sister in law was a frozen base which they’d put their own toppings on but it was basically raw. The cheese and bacon beef burger ordered was dry and there was about half a slice of bacon on it, if that. Lasagna also looked like a ready meal. The drinks we had to get off the bar our self as our waitress said the kitchen was so busy even though there was only our table of 6 and another table of 4 in the restaurant.
Lovely cosy pub and restaurant. Varied menu. Friendly staff. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Great place. Just starting to have it renovated. Beer and staff nice and polite. Worth a try
We stayed over in the car park last Saturday night September 26th. We were right next to the canal. The landlord who we checked in with before arrival, gave us a warm welcome and held the kitchen open so we were able to eat. I had the beef lasagne and it was one of the best I have eaten out. My husband liked his curry too and he really enjoyed the 3 pints of he was able to down as he didn't have to drive. I thoroughly recommend the Barley Mow in the centre of Newbold - it ticked all of our boxes. I would certainly use it again if I wanted to stay near Rugby in our van
Outstanding! Amazing service, the owners are so lovely and will go out there way to help with anything you need without hesitation! They accept campervans although it's a pub primarily they will try to offer any services and amenities you will need! Also good company and very welcoming! The food is bob on and they show the football! Definitely a big recommend!
