The hostess was extremely miserable and couldn’t have been more unfriendly if she’d tried! No menus given when seated just told in an abrupt way “go to the carvery when you want” food wise the roast potatoes were clearly frozen not homemade and tasted rather odd. The meat and vegetables were good but that’s about it! On making payment we had a gift voucher for £40 our bill being roughly £36 we were told we couldn’t be given cash for the change but they could take it for a tip! I would not recommend eating here and will certainly spread the word to save others the money and disappointing meal.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Arrived at 4.30pm, all lights off, no staff, freezing cold. Met by an elderly man, who asked for payment of which I told him I had paid, of which he said I had not. Once he had checked via a phone call he realised I had indeed paid. No restaurant, no breakfast, no staff, Got to my room and it was drab, freezing, and not that clean. Bed was shocking and then woke up in the morning to no heating again. Downstairs was all locked up, no option for breakfast and a table with keys on it. Do not be fooled by the lovely look on the pictures as these were clearly taken years ago. Really disappointed and will never stay again.
You want that Sunday carvary. This is the place to come. Great Sunday lunch. Great service. Lovely althnosphere. A must for all the familyRooms: 4/5
Went for the Sunday carvery which 14 pounds was good value. The beef was pink which is just how we like it. A pigs in blanket was included. You can go back for more veg and trimming. Cauliflower and broccoli cheese was good. Gravy was enjoyed by all. How would I improve - more comfy chairs!
We have been sometime ago but remembered that it was warm friendly Sunday roast lovely great day Service: 5/5
Popped in to ask about holding a relatives funeral wake and was told to phone later. Called at 5pm and was told to call later again! Called later and was told to call another day, so gave my contact details and waited. That was over two weeks ago and have given up and arranged the wake at the Dunn Cow.
A pleasant welcome but no real ale on this visit.Service: 5/5
Very pleasant staff always smiling , food quality is great on the carvery. Good location for a family met up. It is hotel pricing and you can buy a pound cheaper elsewhere but quality for me everytime. Only downside is the newly resurfaced car park has several vans parked neR the driveway,be better if these were up the back of the car park and a disabled parking space or two made.
Haven't been for a meal in a while but won't be going back anytime soon. No one spoke to us on arrival, the waitress gave us menus without speaking to us and the food was below average. The vegetarian Wellington looked like someone had sat on it and the salad had rotten black sludgy leaves in it. The pudding was huge but 'rustic'. The hotel looks nice but food was a major let down - they need a proper chef.
We held my grandfather's 100th birthday party here and it was wonderful. Eve and her team made sure everything went smoothly and the venue was perfect for around 100 guests. The function room was surprisingly affordable to rent and the buffet was delicious. I would recommend it to anyone.
