Lovely pub, found by chance. Meals was lovely plenty of it and great value for money. Staff friendly. It was that good we went back the next night. As my son loves his steak it's was cooked just perfect. Wasn't dry was nice and tender. As there was pokestops there we played pokemon the waitress to ask about it then come back and add us as friends on the game. Well worth a visit.
We came here today as a group of 23 of us. The did a great job of getting us all in There's a room at the back, which is great for large groups. The service was as quick as it could be. There's a massive menu with loads of choice. The only thing that's missing is lunch type options, no sandwiches, but the do do jacket potatoes which were nice. The portion sizes are huge especially the fish pie. Food was tasty and really well priced.
Unfortunately i wouldn't come here again, i paid £165 for a Christmas dinner for 3 people and if i had my phone with me i would have taken photo's, the table we were put on had been already used prior and hadn't been cleaned or set up even though we were instructed to sit at the table. I had to request for a member of staff to clean and lay the table for us and the response was i will bring some cutlery over so the table was still not sanitised after the previous customers. The table was positioned right in the corner where there wasn't even enough space for the chairs especially if you wanted to get up and down from the table. The food arrived the soup was nice but the bread was disappointing, the pate was poorly presented and the meat was poor quality, the vegetables and potatoes were clearly cooked from frozen. For dessert we had the cheese and crackers, the crackers again were poor quality and stale and there wasn't enough to even go with the amount of cheese that was served. All in all i was extremely disappointed for the vale of money i would compare the quality to a pub dinner which i have normally no issue with but not when i paid £165 excluding any drinks its just not acceptable
An amazing venue that my wife and I have visited in the past. More recently we have taken advantage of their steak and wine offers. We have not been disappointed and will certainly return very soon. Highly recommended.
Great food reasonably priced with great friendly service. Fantastic selection albeit heavily focused on the carnivorous types among us ,although vegan and veggie are available. But great steaks mixed grills and fish.
Perfect restaurant for a Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmare episode, the staff were rude, they lied to me about a 45 minute wait which turned out to be 90 minutes in the end which would have been even longer if I hadn’t raised concern with the bar staff, the table and chairs were as grubby as a kfc fat fryer, it was absolutely freezing and to top it all off I found the most unexplainable object sitting inside my portion of curly fries, I got home and within an hour I was throwing up, the food was way below uk standards and it’s appalling that they’re still allowed to serve their food to the public, disgrace and i and anybody I associate will ever go near this place again. I get the fact ‘you get what you pay for’ but I’d have rather eaten pedigree dog food for a tenner than put my stomach through the old smithy’s food again. Don’t take the risk!!
Hadn’t been to the Old Smithy for years and years and won’t be returning again. The food was average, my partner asked for his steak to be cooked medium and it was more than well done, so dry and tasteless. Not good service from staff, lots of young staff members who aren’t sure how to act professional yet, all stood around the bar swearing and talking about vaping, bad service.
2 of us were in at lunchtime to eat. We chose the 2 steaks plus bottle of wine for £20 offer. Mine was medium rare, juicy, tender and perfect. My friend's was medium, but served mor med rare. He sent it bac for a bit extra cooking, and it came back lovely. They both went down a treat. My friend said the house white was very nice. I was on pop as driving. This is an excellent value offer.
The food was OK but they gave the wrong description to my partners meal and there was a large over charge on the bill it was sorted. The place its self is nice
Popped in mid week as couldn't be bothered to cook at home, ordered two steaks which were really good and the staff were friendly, no complaints from us
