Been there second time awesome place for walk, picnic and trekking. If you want to enjoy, Go early as it get busy during peak time. Enjoyable nature. Parking is little Expensive as they charge £4.50 for 4 hours stay. Secondly there is no Mobile Network. So enjoy and spend more time with each other. Must recommend
We visited a few days ago, it was £4.50 for 4 hours or 6.50 for 4+ hours. It is cash only. The toilets are also a 20p charge. We had no idea how much it was the first day we attempted to adventure around so we had to return the following day with plenty of change. It was worth it to climb the mountain and cross the stepping stones in such beautiful weather. I will be returning in the future
I took my grandson here. First time I had been here in years. There are pay & display ticket machines here now but they are coins only. After approx 10am a National Trust van arrived that could take card payments. Dovedale is a natural wonder I don't think I could ever tire off. First visited here in 1988.
Great walk, great views. Good walk for all levels of ability. Seeing people in flip flops is a bit questionable but who am I to judge? Was busy, but of course, it's lovely for a sunny Sunday!
Must visit place in Peak District, outstanding and mesmerising beauty with river Dove and valleys. Lots of parking space £4.50 for 4 hrs & £6 for all day. Only accept coins but you can pay by card at National trust stall. Toilets cost you 20p so please keep spare change. Money will go to National trust to preserve the area. The café/food stall is really good and I would highly recommend there ice cream. Overall 5 . I would definitely come again.
Dovedale is a great place to visit. We came here to walk up Bunster Hill and Thorpe Cloud, aswell as visit Reynard's Cave. The car park was £5 to park all day cash only, though annoyingly you had to pay 20p to use the toilets. There is also a card only snack place where we bought drinks. Thorpe Cloud was well worth a visit, though extremely muddy at the moment, which made getting down quite tricky I slid most of way down on my bottom. Walking from the car park, it is a short stroll to the stepping stones. There's great paths alongside one side of the river to the stepping stones, the other side is more of a trail path. The stepping stones were fab, though a little flooded when we visited. We then walked along the river Dove to the cave. Reynard's Cave and the natural arch was well worth a scramble up to. Exploring the caves was fab and I believe there is more caves further along the river. To get to the bottom of the caves the path has steps, though is wide and decent to walk along. To get up to the caves is a muddy path and a scramble up rocks. We unfortunately had rainy weather so turned back at the caves, though if I'm ever this way again I'd like to do a return visit. I would definitely recommend visiting.
Dovedale National Trust is an absolute must to visit. Beautiful walk from the car park, up stream towards " stepping stones " from there you have many choices in directions. The panoramic views from ontop of The Cloud Summit are quite spectacular. Nice gradual incline, then a little steeper towards the summit. Slippy when wet It can get extremely busy so best to arrive early. Great place to splash around with younger children during the warmer seasons. Dog friendly. NT car park members free. £3.00 daily 20p toilet fee. Café open at 10am in the carpark. The coffee is goooooood!
The pay and display machines accept Coin payments only no card payments. £4.50 for up to 4 hours or £6 for all day. The car park is fairly large but gets busy at peek times and is the closest carpark to visit the Dovedale stepping stones. Public toilets are available at this location but cost 20p cash only aswell. If your hiking to Milldale they have free to use public toilets but is a great distance away. Hope this info helps On another note, I enjoyed my visit here and will be coming back again to do more hikes.
Busy even in winter , limited parking national trust members are free all day and toilets cost 20p which is fair enough Nice walk but if river is high you can only go to stones and no further. Nice little cafe van at weekends but be warned its cash only because there is no mobile signal in the valley no maps either people
The ticket machine takes coins only exact money, no change and no card payments £4.50 for 4 hours lots of spaces and a short 10 min walk to the stepping stones. toilets are 20p to use theres a trailer selling hot and cold food and drinks.
