Waited for more than 15 minutes after asking for assistance, the shop wasn't particularly busy as the photo shows.. When assistance arrived, product knowledge was non existent. The second person was very nice and did her best to help, knowledge was better but not good enough. If they are going to compete with the internet, they need to do better. I went to the shop because I wanted advice, I didn't get it. It was a shame as there was a product there on offer. I may go back and buy, but I will have to get my questions answered online first.
I give only three stars as I paid JUST under £1000 for a TOP tier graphics card, Only for it to fail one of the fans stopped working only 9 days after delivery!!!!! And then it was a hooha trying to get the replacement sorted, with customer service trying to fob me off, refusing to let me speak to management to complain, etc etc etc.....even after they responded to the bas review on trustpilot asking me to contact them via their email they STILL ignored me after I done that!!!!! So they basically only responded to look good to trustpilot, as though they were trying to help........ Anyhow....I've finally received my replacement GPU, and, so far, it does seem to be working in a satisfactory way, operating more in line with the stats that I've seen reported by owners of this particular GPU in the pc gaming community...the temperatures are 12°c lower than the faulty item, and is MUCH quieter, because the other two fans aren't having to ramp all the way up trying to compensate, and even then they couldn't as it was hitting 84°c on the faulty item, which is TECHNICALLY within safe operating temperature, but was 12°c HIGHER than what is averaged by everyone else....and that was with a broken fan of course...so...it was already lost. Anyhow....SO FAR so good....though this GPU is really going to have to impress me for reliability now, seeing as though one has already failed.... because if this one fails....then authorities will have to look at if there's a different reason why the price was dropped from £1900 to just under £1000, other than just a "price drop".........though not even ONE other graphics card in their inventory has had the same kind of reduction as this one has.....there is even another one, same make, same model being a 3080ti, but a different Variant, aka, the revel I stead of uprising.....well, that one is of lower quality than the uprising, yet that still costs over £1600 even after price drop.....so...makes you think why THIS model was price dropped so much ..... I don't mean to be so negative I'm this review, but, it would not be right if I left these details out, as if a person writes a review, it should be to the full extent of the truth, aswell as having all the information available for others to make decisions on purchasing an item themselves......and this is the truth, aswell as including relevant information..... At the end of the day, the replacement is in very good working order...for now....as long as it stays this way, I'll be a very happy man, and I'd even go as far as to say it was worth the hassle of the faulty item, because for the price I paid, for a RTX 3080ti, is a VERY good price....it's a VERY powering graphics card, and in gaming, matches the rtx 3090 for performance, the 3090 only has more VRAM, which is useless for gaming in this day in age as games would struggle using the 12gb that the 3080ti has....and performance wise, there's barely 2% difference.... So...for the price, as long as the faulty one was just a stroke of bad luck, and that the majority are in good working order, I'd say that the item is worth the price all day long. And price for performance, you won't get it elsewhere..... As for delivery, initial delivery was very swift, I had ordered at half one on the friday morning, and it was there by Sunday morning....very happy... The replacement took a while to be acknowledged and arranged, but once it had, again, it was very swift, and actually was next day delivery.....so, again, very happy with that.... DPD are a VERY competent courier, and I swear by them as they've always been on time, freindly, reliable etc etc... I've included photos of the arriving box, the GPU as installed, benchmark results for Forza horizon 5, at custom extreme settings absolutely everything cranked up to the max, and photos from cyberpunk 2077 most graphically intensive game on the market, again, cranked up to the absolute max.
For Currys in Exeter only! Need management training as well as shop staff training. Hearing 1st off from till lady that there was no one with experience of my query who could help me words to that effect. That didn't bode well & not a good 1st experience intro to Exeter when my local branch did address the problems. I was there as a few questions needed answering & things to check over. Unfortunately the trip didn't go well but I found another company to help me thankfully. This customer definitely wasn't "king" & everyone else involved were to blame when other branch of Currys did the initial advising & work shortly beforehand! In Exeter I was actually willing to pay for help when that possible system was mentioned by the Manager! That was not what was said apparently! Act & together are the 2 words that spring to mind & my saviour of a different company couldn't believe it! He pulled out all the stops so I had important communications intact again. Let's hope Exeter get their training & hopefully this is a one off store for Currys sake! PS I have used PC World/Currys for well over 20 years but that statement of how happy I had been, even with big computer problems, didn't wash!
Took a while to get help we needed and as store staff were all busy a lovely lady from the office came and dealt with our purchase. Very good customer service. Item no in stock till 6/12 but all sorted.
Extremely poor service. I went in to return an item that I bought for my son that cost nearly £400 and I was told by the 'returns' woman on the counter that I couldn't return it because it had been opened!! Weird! I went online and was able to return the item and get a full refund without a problem. I could have easily given up after my visit and conversation with the incompetent woman and lost £400. Be careful with in store staff as they don't seem to be up to speed with the correct procedures at the Rydon Lane store
Bought a desktop computer which was great but keyboard didn't work. Couldn't call shop as no phone number available only online hub. Had to take back and didn't have one in stock. If I could have called them it would have saved me a wasted journey so very frustrating. Will now have to go back again when they manage to get the keyboard. Staff in-store were very pleasant and helped as much as they possibly could
Wanted a new dyson , couldn’t praise the 2 members of staff for their expertise, friendliness, product knowledge, a massive thank you to Tom the dyson man! And to Josh who although was rushed off he’s feet gave me all the help and time needed to make my sale a pleasant one! If all sales reps were like these 2 the world of tech would be a better place! Thank you Tom and Josh, excellent service
I would like to thank the Kay, Lorraine and Archie hope I got all your names rightin the Exeter branch today who helped me so much with an issue with a laptop and charger. They greatly exceeded the normal levels of customer service today and did everything they possibly could to help me.
Wanted a TV that was on display... It was out of stock, but still their showing everyone how good it was... Wee salesman trying to sell us everything except what we actually wanted. Wanted the telly for 800 and phone for 600. Due to their nonsense, we left and bought them elsewhere
Do not buy from currys or pc world. The customer sevice team ate liars. I bought a lg c1 tv with a currys careplan. With a 100 giftcard promotion if i kept my plan for a year. Custoner service team advised me at time of purchase of careplan that i would receive it after a year and will be on my notes.year goes by no giftcard received rang customer service again said i would receive it within 72 hours by email did not cone. Made a complaint about not receiving it. Told i will not receive it now because i didn't register my email within 90 days of promotion. I received no information telling me ths at time of purchase because the customer service have no idea what they are doing. They are badly trained. Also liars telling me i would receive it. Trading standard shall be informed
