Booked dinner this evening Monday 31st May following a recommendation from a stranger. It was a very good recommendation indeed. It is STUNNING here. The attention to detail of absolutely everything is fantastic. Such a great ambience. Classy and relaxed. Great attentive staff. The food is worth every penny you pay, it's so good. Such a fantastic varied menu. Amazing puddings. Even the toilets are a cut above with great smelling hand products which linger and stay in your memory just like this decadent hotel/restaurant. Only wish we lived here'
Couldn’t have asked for anything better for 2 night relaxing getaway. Easy check in, beautifully furnished and finished room. Very comfortable large bed, slept so well especially after a long walk along the beach and a trip up to Whitby Abbey. Made dinner reservations for both nights when we booked, glad we did as justifiably the restaurant was full both nights. Dinner was extremely good, we were very impressed having Beef Wellington, steak and chips, amazing fish and chips and baked salmon during our stay with a great selection of good quality wines. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, quite quirky but tasteful and spotless throughout. Can’t fault our stay at all and the hardworking always helpful staff are a real credit to themselves and the owner. We’ll definitely be returning.
Our first visit, but not our last ! This restaurant was amazing. The food was quality, hot and delicious. The staff were professional, courteous and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Called in for lunch with family. The hotel is perfectly positioned just across from the sea, beautiful scenery to sit for a meal. We all had the Steak and ale pie which was excellent and I would have again. Recently refurbished to a very high standard. If you are in Filey call in you will not be disappointed.
We thought this hotel looked really nice and asked to sit on the terrace for a drink as we had a dog. A member of staff said just sit down. My daughter and I walked in to use the toilet, leaving the others to find a seat. A woman in a white sheet dress asked if she could help, we asked for the toilets and she directed us in. She then followed us in to the toilets and asked rudely where we were sitting!! I said on the terrace with the dog. She said “well there’s no table for them!” I apologised. It seems although the waitress had told the family to sit down this other waitress in the white sheet dress pushed in front of them and said she needed to check. She told them there’s no tables you’ll just have to wait. We were made to feel like we just wandered in to use her precious toilets! How unpleasant do you have to be? It was just a misunderstanding. We had thought it might be nice to stay there. Not now though. Train your staff in basic hospitality! We moved on to the Glasshouse for our drinks. Much friendlier!
I found this hotel to be rather difficult to categorise due to the very quirky decor. It's a place that you will either love or hate. Personally, I love it, but many will be put off by some of the artwork. Plus points are the brilliant front of house staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Food is superb, although a little overpriced. Negative points, for the price, the owners should be available, and introduce themselves to their guests. We stayed in room 4, and first impressions were of a well maintained room. On a closer examination, the carpet, being a light colour was extremely dirty with inground filth. An investment in a good quality carpet shampoo cleaner would be worthwhile. Overall, would recommend, but £120.00 would be a more realistic charge for a nights bed and breakfast.
We really enjoyed staying here. Piped music all day was a little testing. Be careful on the steps. Staff excellent, food delightful. Clean environment.
If I I could give this hotel a 0 I would. I'm booked in for 2 nights. I'm a female lone business woman on the road. When I arrived at 6.30pm I asked if room service is available & told no, I then asked what time is the restaurant open until & told not available to me. I've been travelling for over 7 hours. I was told "NO" as the restaurant is full to capacity with the public & I should of booked in for a meal when I made my reservation online even though no option is available or mentioned when I made my reservation. It says reservations are welcomed. As I was refused food by the receptionist i decided to ask another member of staff at 7pm & I was told "I'll get back to you" it's now 9.20pm & still waiting. It's now 9.30pm & the restaurant isn't full lots of empty seats. I asked if I could possibly have a sandwich & explained that I'm a here on my own & not familiar with this area. Still refused food. I asked if it was possible to speak to the owners to be told its the night off & out for a walk. No management on site. Staff are very rude, unhelpful.. I've just been told to order a takeaway to my hotel room. Unbelievable.
My wife & I enjoyed a lovely hot cup of coffee with an excellent scone, with jam & cream. We sat out on the front terrace and enjoyed the stunning view out to sea
Beautiful hotel, very unique decor. Great views of the sea from our room. And the food is just incredible. Would love to go back
