Small, picture perfect little pub, with friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived it was a stop off during a walk they said they couldn't accommodate us for food as they were fully booked but they could offer us chips which was what we wanted anyway, so win win. OH MY GOODNESS, if you ever get the chance to try their cheesy chips you will not be sorry. They we soooo good. There is also an Olympic Torch behind the bar in a display case and the patron was more than happy to tell us how it came to be there.
Nice sunny day, nothing much to do: pub lunch. Chose this pub because of proximity, reviews and the name. It is an attractive place, pleasantly decorated and with a welcoming fire. The choice of beers is interesting, the Hobson's is very decent. Just had ham, egg and chips which was good. The chips were outstanding. Staff are very friendly and service was superb. The bar stools look extremely comfortable. There are a couple of car parks and plenty of outside seating for the warmer weather.
Absolutely fabulous meal, lovely friendly staff well worth the 1 hour 20 minutes to get there. We would recommend.
Had a really good meal. The place had a lovely atmosphere and the food was great. Would highly recommend
This is easily the best pub in and around Hoarwithy. The interior immediately made me feel at home, the staff were very welcoming including Ruby, and the menu options large. I ate a most delicious halloumi and chips, and washed it down with two perfect pints of Butty Bach ale. I also got to try the lentil burger - very tasty too. I'm really looking forward to visiting again.
We visited today with our young children. After a beautiful walk along the river, it was the perfect place to recharge. The staff were so friendly, as were the other customers, and the food was delicious. We ordered the pheasant - so good - and three children's meals, which were generous potions but also very good quality, "proper" food. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed for pudding. We'd happily come back and would heartily recommend. Thanks!
Nice old country pub with open fires. Decent Sunday roast.
Disappointing. Was expecting a classic English country pub with a warm welcome. Instead, the experience was of a restaurant making a minor concession to still having the identity of a pub. It is a wonderful building with great potential, however, the focus was very much on dining. If you want to go somewhere and have a good meal at a decent price then it is a good option but it is not really a pub. There were four ale pumps but only one ale was on, and that was a rather drab pint of Butty Batch. The ambience was strangely hushed, maybe even cliquish. The person behind the bar exuded ennui. We waited so long to get served for our second round that we gave up and went home.
We had a family lunch for six plus our 3 year old grandson. The food, service and ambience was excellent. Beautiful secluded area. We shall visit again in springtime when the area will be even more beautiful.
One of our favourite places! A lovely, charming and characteristic pub, set in beautiful surroundings. Delicious food accompanied with a warm welcome
