I was placed in the bedrooms next to the entrances, and in my opinion this hotel was an ‘meh’ experience because usually from midnight up to early morning you end up receiving 24/7 noise of feet above you and outside the door. The services were pleasant to us. But when I entered the room it smelled like tobacco, but the room was thankfully clean and tidy and had space
Ideal place for me to stay having just arrived from an over 20 hs flight, so easy to get to from the airport, minute walk to tranport to main Old Town and City Centre. Clean room, small but clean, specially warm, comfortable bed, slept really well in good clean sheets. The receptionist was cordial.Rooms: 3/5
Staying at the Corstorphine Lodge during my stay at Edinburgh, i initially booked elsewhere but that place had shut down, Corstorphine was the only place that had availabilities within the dates of me having to be here. Upon arriving the staff was very nice, it looks clean and cute. My rooms a decent size, however this is where i start to realize that this place needs a serious upgrade, especially for how much i paid My t.v is perhaps a computer monitor, volume has to be over 70 for you to hear it. The shower is extremely tiny, and im a small person myself. The bathroom has no privacy as theres a window right at the toilet facing the shower, albeit the windows are blurry, you can still see. My mattress is perhaps the most uncomfortable bed i have ever experienced, waking up at night in pain and having to make a bed out of pillows, this morning i even had to ask for 3 more pillows! Simply to make a bed, ontop of my bed! This mattress honestly may even be the box spring, minus the actual mattress. To get to city center you need to take a bus- im from a city myself so this is no problem, its about a 30 minute bus ride and the busses you need are actually 2 minutes from the door of the hotel. For the price, i expected BETTER. But if youre spending 90% of your day out exploring, its acceptable- but not comfortable.
I booked this hotel for our last 2 days in Edinburgh after a wonderful holiday in Scotland. We didn’t need anything fancy but wanted something convenient and clean. I had booked all of my other accommodations before we left for Scotland but because I booked this one online while there my card was denied because of the suspicious booking. They let me know this, so after getting my card straightened out I booked a different hotel because this place was obviously cancelled. Two or three days later the Corstorphine sent me an email saying our rooms would be ready for those 2 days. I had already booked the other hotel and had never gotten an email asking if they could use my card again. I told them that I had already booked with another hotel but they did not want to refund me for the room. I sent them an email back telling them that I had not authorized them to use my card the 2nd time. A few days later I got a phone call from them saying they would refund my unauthorized payment if I paid a 35. Pound payment for administration fees. I said yes I would do that as I didn’t want to deal with them anymore. I feel I should not have even had to pay that fee because of not authorizing the payment to begin with. I didn’t read any reviews on the Corstorphine Hotel/Lodge as I was enjoying my holiday so much and didn’t take the time. Thank goodness we didn’t stay there as it seems like it isn’t a very highly reviewed accommodation, far from everything, dirty, smelly, unclean bedding and rude staff ! Long story short, don’t be in a haste when booking, follow your regime of booking online and read all the reviews before booking.
Friendly staff, clean and well appointed rooms with comfy beds and easy access to Murrayfield stadium and the city via a number of regular buses. We didn’t have the breakfast but the smell of fresh coffee did wake me up and it smelled very good!
Couldn't have asked for more. Stayed there with my girlfriend for a weekend. The employees were lovely and made the whole stay very hassle-free, and the room was amazingRooms: 5/5
Was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. I had a night away by myself and I felt very unsafe. When I checked in, there was a young guy who answered the door. He smelled like weed and looked high. The rooms weren’t very clean and the door was very rattly/moved even when locked. I needed up moving furniture behind the door to feel safe. The walls are super thin and the couple in the room next door argues loudly all night not the hotels fault obviously I booked breakfast for 8am and got there 10mins early. I had to start work at 9am across the road so left myself plenty time. Food didn’t arrive until 8.50am which was really annoying
The staff was nice enough and the room was very cosy, with beautiful vintage furniture. However, there was no breakfast and it's a bit expensive, considering the fact that it is far from the city centre. There was coffee and tea in the room, but the water kettle was too filthy to use, unfortunately.
Very dated and run down feeling. A strange mix of mismatched furniture. No attention to detail in cleaning two dessicated moth corpses on window for whole stay. Unable to open bathroom window and no extractor leading to a damp smell. Only 2 teabags provided on tea tray giving an impression of meanness especially considering how expensive it was to stay. A 7 day cancellation period is ridiculous in this present climate. Whole place had an air of a run down care home rather than a hotel. On the plus side room had a very comfortable bed.
Booked this for a friend for end of sept from a particular site begins with b and ends ING. They took full payment from my card allegedly in error. I cancelled the booking straight away received an email saying refund would be processed. Phoned the above company who spoke to the hotel who confirmed refund would be processed today. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
