Story

The Embassy of China in London is the diplomatic mission of China in the United Kingdom. The Embassy in London is China's only embassy in the UK, alongside two Consulates-General in Edinburgh and Manchester. Established in 1877 as the Chinese Legation, the London mission was China's first permanent overseas diplomatic mission. It has served as the diplomatic mission of the Qing Empire, Republic of China and (since 1950) the People's Republic of China. It was the location of the Qing Empire's detention of Sun Yat-sen, an important episode in the Chinese revolution of 1911. It remains today the focal point for events relating to China held in the United Kingdom, including celebrations in 2012 to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and the People's Republic of China. Most applications by UK citizens for visas to China are not handled by the embassy, however, but are instead processed by the China Visa Applications Centre, also located in London. There is a constant police presence outside the embassy.China also maintains several other buildings in London: a Defence Section at 25 Lyndhurst Road, Hampstead, a Commercial Section at 16 Lancaster Gate, Paddington, a Cultural Section at 11 West Heath Road, Hampstead and a Science & Technology Section at 10 Greville Place, Maida Vale.

After an abysmal experience at the Chinese Visa application centre we went here as a last resort where we were sorted out immediately. The staff here seemed to have much better visa knowledge than the Visa centre so I wonder why this has the worse rating. Perhaps people mistake this for the visa centre and give bad reviews here, because our experience was quick and helpful.
contacted them 22 times regarding no laws to help stop animal cruelty and abuse in china but had no response, don't buy chinese products or do trade with china, Mr Jon collins, uk
Totally useless, I just needed my visa but they are like machines, those stupid machines. One star is too high for them, it's a pity there is no zero star:
Completely useless, rude, stupid, and inefficient. So I was applying for the HK visa. On the embassy’s website, it asked for a few things, which I all provided both yesterday and today such as the “bank statements in the past three months”—so I provided Aug—Oct. Yesterday they asked for the bank statement for Nov, which I brought today. BUT, they asked for the savings statement today… Well, why don’t they just write things CLEARLY on their website. I know they’re incompetent at setting clear written rules—but they could have told me about the savings statement issue yesterday during the “interview”. I asked the woman why they wouldn’t write and say things clearly. It was a waste of other people’s time. She let me out very rudely. Tbh I’m not surprised at how useless they are. They’ve been completely useless in many ways. This experience just reconfirms my prior belief about them.
If I could rate my experience with zero stars it would be more accurate. Trying to get information about the Heath declaration form, website it seems blocked, I called them hundreds time unsuccessfully, sent few emails and never considered. Very poor service
Disappointed that they aren't willing to admit what they did in 1989 4th June.
Even 25 years later the Chinese Embassy outdo themselves as being the worst embassy to deal with. I didn't want to give any stars, but it's a requirement to make a review. I actually give minus 10 stars, just to be clear, maybe they will hire some people and be less rubbish?
I have emailed past 2 month, no response. I have called them no response Absolutely useless embassy
Applying for travel documents has became the utterly stressful experience. The offical webpage adivsed that it would take 3-4 working days but now we have waited for over 2 months. No one replied emails or answered phone calls. I spent hours to visit London twice just to visit the embssy and check the progress and neither was given any useful info. The embassy gave me a number to call and number is not even in use! Also, you will see the most unpleasant toilet in the UK. Now, I have to cancel the bookings for flights/hotels. These people are a perfect show of incompetence.
The most horrible service I have ever received. I have never written a google review in my entire life, so this says a lot about my experience. Extremely unprofessional and unhelpful staff who will not bother helping or guiding you on any matter. Travelled for hours to get here only to be yelled at for asking a simple question. Absolutely disgusting and pathetic attitude of the staff. Oh and also, they are only open from 9am-12pm unlike what google says. P.s. next time you wanna yell at visitors for asking a question, thinking about changing jobs since you clearly hate your job. Pathetic.
