Calderdale Royal Hospital

Story

The Calderdale Royal Hospital is a hospital situated in the English town of Halifax. It is located in the suburb of Salterhebble and provides general services, emergency services and some specialist services. It was opened to patients in April 2001, and was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne on 15 March 2004. It was one of the first hospitals in the UK to be built under the Private Finance Initiative. The estimated cost, in 1994, was that a new, single site hospital with 614 beds would cost £34.85 million to build. By 2001 according to Graham Johnson, manager of the Catalyst consortium which built and now services and maintains the hospital, the cost had risen to £103 million, leasing it back to Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.Clinical services are provided by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, with other ancillary services provided by Lend Lease Group and ISS A/S. It shares some staff and facilities with the nearby Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, which is run by the same NHS hospital trust.Proposals to close the Accident and Emergency Department in February 2016 provoked a demonstration of 5000 people in Huddersfield and a petition signed by 60,000 people.

I had cause to go to A & E this morning in immense pain. I was seen extremely quickly and was given effective painkillers straight away. I saw a number of health professionals in the time I was there and all of them were friendly and professional. I have nothing but praise for the staff I saw. I'm glad this is my local hospital.
Took my grandson in last night with a high temp, he has bronchialitas! The staff were amazing, absolutely run off there feet, iv never ever seen it so busy, people sat on floors, so many babies and children and the staff couldn’t do enough, kept checking on my grandson also parents were looked after with warm drinks and sandwiches, these staff are wonderful they deserve to be paid fairly, thank you so much for all your hard work and amazingly upbeat with so much pressure thank you
Been in Calderdale Royal Hospital ward 2B since Monday. I would like to say a big thank you to all the nurses and staff for looking after me and making my stay bearable. I wish them all a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Rude doctors of A&E department!!! He is very rude, stand up and ask “why you are here, did not listen or even checking what problem of patients, and he asked “do you understand what A&E means? Just come back to GP and ask for appointment , don’t waist our time” and the nurse said “sorry because it’s 23:30pm so no doctors can cut tonsillitis this time , and all the A&E can do is give you the antibiotic” Sorry but we have to move here, that’s why we have to cancel appointment for cut tonsillitis from Pinderfield Hospital With high temperatures and vomiting after eating, what should we do, and make appointment with GP is always after 3 weeks This is the worst A&E I’ve been, sorry but I can’t leave any star for it.
Pretty poor appointments given out by the radiology department and children's ward. Had to rearrange my son's CT after I was un able to get transport from Huddersfield to the hospital as HRI no longer deals with children. Almost as there was no communication between all 3 parties myself, children's ward and radiology. Was given a 9:30 appointment by radiology and got told to go in for 9am. Letter I decided had scribbled put time ans was not clear as to what time I hD to be there for. Once there my LO was delayed medication prescribed by the limited amount of doctors which wasn't the right dosage and was getting on for nearly 6 hours at this point. The sedation had warn off and thought that I would call it quits. Don't want to be cruel to my 9 month old, myself or the person who drive me. Had to get another pointless appointment booked it. Pointless due to the fact that appointments don't really matter if they see anyone when they feel like it or have limited doctors. BRING BACK THE EQUIPMENT TO HRI FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO TRAVEL UP TO CALDERDALEI!!!!
Maternity ward! omg i dont have words to show gratitude. i gave birth 23.11.22. it was such an amazing experience the midwives and doctors are soooooooo amazing. The student midwives were the most amazing. One of them held my had thtoughout my surgery and spoke about my countries food to distract me from the anxiousness and fear i wish i remembered her name. Shes going to be amazing in the future. i wish her the best. Theres another one who followed me out with my baby omg! shes a darling. im home 3 days now and i really miss them. i am truly grateful.
before a new Year, I saw really bad neurology, dr mahmoud, he has not professional, he didn't care for my sister problems. I'm sorry for a halifax hospital. I never have a good experience in the this hospital. I was there for 2 nights. nurse has talked about alto much at the nights time to noisy, after 23:30pm, I want to complain to NHS.
Was recently 20th Sep in the minor injuries department for a broken toe. The nurses were lovely and had a smile for most people I say most as some people that were waiting were just impatient and rude The lovely nurse who strapped my toes together even gave me some dressing strip to take with me.

Within 2 hours I had has an ecg, a chest X-ray multiple blood tests , my blood pressure and Sats checked twice seen the doctor twic and be back in the car with my penicillin . All with lots of smiles and helpful guidance. The whole thing worked like clockwork! I’m glad I live in Calderdale
Cold and uncaring so far, haven't a clue how my mum is even when I was in the hospital with her while assessed for 2 hours a and e. I just felt unwanted there. Just tried switchboard and someone cut me off
