Went for Mothers Day, booking the earliest evening slot to avoid the rush but already busy upon arrival. Very noisy, had to shout to each other above the noise of a relatively small restaurant and incredibly noisy kitchen - one of those open plan ideas. Couldn't identify what on earth in the kitchen was making the sound like a swarm of bees! Food OK, but expensive for what was presented on the plate. Ate quickly and left after 35 minutes to get a coffee and dessert elsewhere. Bill's is much better, next door.

Byron serve decent pink cooked burgers plus American style sides. It is a chain so the menu and burgers are uniform rather than unique but the standard is good. The craft beer and milkshakes are also excellent. Not exceptional like some London burger places but a decent option for Chelmsford

Nice location and being able to sit next to the river. Plenty of shaded tables outside and fairly good service

Byron has a casual environment, good food and a nice view of the water, the staff for the most part are very nice and helpful (although my visit with my girlfriend was spoilt by a quite rude waitress who seemed annoyed that we were even there) Apart from that, it's generally a nice place with food that is moderatly priced. I would hope to visit again sometime but with a server who was nicer. All in all Byron's is a good place for a wide selection of burgers and milkshakes. (photo attached of the Oreo Freakshake) If you would like a quick bite to eat in a casual place, Byron's is the place for you.
