Bryson’s on the Bowness High Street is always busy. This bakery with pastries and cakes also has a sit down dining room upstairs. There are a few tables outside facing a charming shopping alley at the back. If the weather permits… it’s a good spot to watch the world go by. The pastries are good but sadly, they ran out of clotted cream for their scones!!!
Classic Lake District tearoom with a great selection of cakes and pastries to go with morning coffee or afternoon tea. Visited early in the morning and the service was efficient, returned for lunch later in the day and it was much busier, but managed to find outdoor seating with the dog. There's a good range of lunch options, and you can make up your own sandwich, choosing from a range of fillings. Prices aren't cheap but not bad for a popular tourist area. The bakery also stocks cakes and bread to take home.
Never liked pies, but I have enjoyed the steak and kidney pie so much. It was delicious. It’s a great spot for people watching.Food: 4/5
We called in here looking for some fresh baked goods to take on our journey home. The choices weren't great. The cheese and onion pasty was nice. The lemon dip cake was quite dry and had very little taste. Seems like mass produced bakery items that would get at a chain store disappointing much better food choices in the local area.Food: 3/5
We stopped in for a quick bite to eat, had the ham, mozzarella and pesto toasties which was lovely. Full of flavour and a good portion. Staff mostly friendly to us although quite abrupt, verging on rude to other customers.Food: 4/5
I didn't rate this place for breakfasts, although the cakes and pastries downstairs looked top notch. The buns seems slightly toasted but ended up feeling stale not toasted. The whole thing felt rushed like the main aim was to get you to leave as soon as possible. If you purchase food in the shop downstairs you can't take it upstairs to eat. I've no objection to that but it seems to be a common mistake with two sets of people falling foul of it while I was there, perhaps better signage is needed
Wonderful place. The staff were really friendly and diligent when helping me to select some dairy free snacks. The cranberry and raspberry tea was yummy too. They also did a nice hot chocolate, which was perfect for a rainy day. I really like this chain, and given that I’ve visited different branches twice in one day, I’ll definitely be back!
Extremely Friendly staff with absolutely amazing food!! I would post some photos but we ate it before we could take photos!! 10/10 recommend!!Food: 5/5
Popped in for tea and a scone. Very little choice of both scones and cake, and when the cherry and coconut scone came, it was raw in the middle. Not many other cake options and other customers left as they too were after scones. Waitress was helpful and very apologetic. She checked all the other scones and they were the same. Customers who bought some of the scones out of the shop will have had a shock when they too discovered they were raw. Won't be returning.
A slice of lakeside Britannia. While not quite at the level of a patisserie or Viennoiserie, they manage a decent selection of calorific carbtastic cakes and sandwiches. There’s no meatball marinara to threaten the likes of subway but their stuffing is second to none.
