Amazing food, prompt and friendly service with a great atmosphere!! The Fish and Onion Rings Batter is amazing - nice and crunchy while the fish was perfectly cooked. Also the Dirty Fries and Onion Soup - highly recommended. Nice to see a salad with Olives and Flavoursome Tomatoes as well
This gastropub dates back to the days of William Shakespeare but, having laid empty for some time, it was reopened by two chefs in 2012. Stopped by for drinks on a Saturday afternoon in February. Enjoyed the well-kept HPA but would have preferred a more traditional bar setting as all of the tables were setup for diners. There is a lovely outdoor area and also a marquee, and this clearly gives drinkers more options when the weather is warmer. Returned later that day as part of a much larger group for dinner. Despite the entire place being full of diners, service was efficient, attentive and very friendly. I was slightly disappointed with my main, the pesto tagliatelle carbonara, because the ‘added pulled chicken’ didn’t resemble its name and appeared to replace most of the vegetarian ingredients; overall a little bland and too stodgy. I did enjoy my mussels starter and everyone else was complimentary about their choices. Overall it was a very good experience but not quite worthy of a 5-star review.
First time here. Relatively small menu if you exclude burgers, not my thing, but the dishes I chose were excellent. The service was outstanding. Attentive but not subservient and with a sense of humour!
Fantastic country pub. The food is excellent. Nice outdoor seating area also.
Lovely old pub. The best food I have had in a very long time and great staff.
I have been in the lucky position of eating out at different pubs once a week all over the Midlands this year. It was the turn of The Tavern this week and what a gem it turned out to be. The setting is beautiful in the village and the Tavern itself is steeped in history nothing has been taken away from its past and little added to it so it remains a living gem from yester year - fabulous . We were offered the menu from a young man who clearly took pride in the pub . Enthusiastic with the menu and willing to promote the beers available he is a credit to your team. Excellent menu with a fantastic range of meals priced so even the most modest of wallets can afford to eat here. The food was excellent probably dare I say the best meal I have had for many a year in this setting. Great pub excellent staff incredible food wonderful beer don't change a thing in this pub for you have everything right . Thankyou .
Good food. Good atmosphere. Friendly welcome Only lost points due to not having baby changing facilities I'm sure most of you are not worried about that, though
4 of us went for lunch on Friday 13/1/'23 because we all liked the menu . Not been before . All amazed by the quality and variety of the food . Good friendly service . Good prices . Will all go again soon .
Had a very nice meal to celebrate a family birthday. Have been there several times over the years. Beer is good too.
We went on a Saturday lunchtime after not going to the Broom tavern for many years and must say the food was exceptional my wife an I both said it was one of the best pub meals we have both had in a long time really highly recommended
