Good parking which is free for National Trust members, fairly level route with fantastic views at the halfway point. Option to walk back along the lane. We took 4 and 7 year old children and they managed the majority.

Great for blea tarn access, stupidly over priced. £5 for 2 hours!! Also, only accepts change, which, being in the middle of nowhere, isnt exactly convenient

As parking lots go, this is not a favorite of mine... Sloped, muddy, and in the middle of nowhere, it's what you'd expect from a National Trust facility. What you wouldn't expect are the steep prices. Given what and where this is, and the length of time hikers are likely to use this lot, £4 for just the first two hours is basically a ripoff. With that said, you're not here for the parking lot, are you? The area itself is basically stunning, and if you take the main trail past the Tarn you'll arrive at a creek which is the main outfall of this scenically beautiful pond. Follow this creek, and you'll be heading down a valley that's simply stunning. After about five hundred yards or so you'll also reach one of the prettiest little waterfalls you could wish for. Pro-Tip: There's a cattle grid about fifty yards from the parking lot. Another twenty or thirty yards beyond this you'll come to a large layby/pullout on the left. This is plenty big enough to park your vehicle in while still leaving enough space for other road users to get out of each other's way. Blea Tarn is not normally overrun with people, so you have a fair chance of snagging this free spot if you go take a look.
