New owner Jamie Baker incorrectly measured my home, a basic requirement for preparing an accurate estimate. I was quoted 120 Sq m for my lounge, hall and bedroom when the actual requirement was 73 Sq m. An overmeasure of 47 Sq m whilst 40% profit for the seller is around 66% too much - both dishonest and unacceptable. Having been told by his wife Emma I was "overthinking" I was clearly right to do so. Fitting cost also extortionate - also 66% more than the price I have accepted. Many thanks to Skidmores for such an honest professional service. Whilst I have received an apology I am sure I would not be the only person to take exception to an over-measure. This error could have cost me nearly £4,000 for "entry level" carpet only had I not questioned why it was so high compared to my 2 other purchases from the old Biddiscombes for identical areas with a similar price per sq m carpet, including underlay, gripper, door bars - and sought another opinion. The requirement for a second measure prior to ordering I have never heard of, it is a most unusual practice and a defence my husband described as "backtracking".
