This is a simple hotel, located between the university and Summerville. If you don't have a car, the location is not convenient as there's nothing close by - restaurants or supermarkets. There's a simple bar/restaurant with a limited menu closing at 9.30pm. It helps you not starving, but don't expect anything fancy. The room is OK, comfortable bed, desk, wardrobe, bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. For me, the worst was the noise. The noise insulation is poor and I could clearly hear people passing on the corridor, and doors banging all around. The place only makes sense if the price is really competitive.
Mixed experience. The room was dark and damp, but also very hot without an opening window or effective air conditioning during the latest heatwave. A fan was provided but it’s quite noisy then.nnBBC1 wasn’t working properly on the TV but was fine for example in the small lounge near the lobby. Just on the same night England had a World Cup game! Wifi was so weak in the room that I couldn't even get e-mails done, let alone use iPlayer to watch the match with audio.nnBreakfast was good in parts - nice sausages and croissants - but both types of eggs were disgusting and the coffee machine had no milk in it.nnThe location is of course lovely, with the centre walkable and in a quiet suburban street. In a city with few affordable options, this is at least that.
Booked direct. Arrived and was told I had only booked for one person and to add an extra person it was £10 per night we weren’t having breakfast. It was only later I thought to check by making a dummy booking for next weekend and I get the same price of £313.20 regardless of the number of people. I can only assume the receptionist pocketed the £20. We arrived at 1.30pm so knew there was a chance the room wouldn’t be ready and were told it would be ready at exactly 3pm. We were told the room number though to log onto WiFi and the room faced the car park so I was able to go and look through the window to see that in fact the room was readynnOxford was warm this weekend. Close to 30c. There’s aircon in the room but no controller. We went and asked for it were told that the aircon was broken. So rather than fixing it they just removed the control. The alternative was a desk fan which was of little use. There’s no fridge in the room so you can’t have a cold drink. The shower doors aren’t in the grooves properly so the bathroom floods each time you shower. At £140 a night you’d expect a bit more
Executive double:nHotel good location, circa 20 minute walk to city centre.nRooms are ageing with 3/4 size baths and showers above baths - though the showers are powerful.nnGood breakfastnFriendly staffnFirm mattress
Linton Lodge is a decent value for the price, but there are a few areas that need attention. Some plug sockets near the TV and reading lamps under the night stand weren't working, and the shower door had issues with sealing and closing due to a broken hinge. Additionally, the tissue box provided was understocked. Overall, it's okay for a short stay, but some improvements would make the experience much better.
