Nice hotel about 30 min walk to centre. Comfortable rooms with large beds. Bathroom was a bit small but good shower. Buffet breakfast was excellent with options for full English plus pastries and cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Parking was £10 and limited spaces so arrive on time if you can. Check-in was supposed to be 3 o clock but called up early and room was ready at 11am at no extra cost.nEnjoyed our stay.
Overall our stay was fine. Though dated, the room was pretty large. Staff service could have been a lot better. It was fairly close to city center and we took the bus down each day. Breakfast was just okay.nnWe did have an issue with dinner room service. It took 1.5 hours to arrive after we placed it online. We called down to front desk twice to ask where it was, for them the second time to say “it’s in the oven now” an hour and a half later? and would not let us cancel the order. When the food finally arrived, the worker scoffed and acted upset that we asked for it to be cancelled/refunded since we didn’t want it any more. The whole situation was pretty frustrating, especially when they didn’t do anything to make it right or even communicate to us that there could have been a delay.
The room was good, with plenty of space and clean. En suite was adequate.nBreakfast was very good with good quality ingredients.nEvening dinner was disgusting. Half the starters were not available. Limited main course. Cod and chips was a frozen meal warmed up in the oven. I did complain but nothing done. If we hadn’t prepaid i would have left and not paid.
Don’t stay here for business or if you need WiFi - it doesn’t work and staff pretend not to know about the issue. If you’re lucky you’ll get 5 mins of very slow network before it cuts, and that’s throughout the place. At breakfast many other guests said it was a nightmare and had been the same for previous stays, as other reviews attest. Old mattresses that are flimsy, and a huge gap under my door with bright corridor light coming in through the night too. At this price the hotel should be ashamed of these basics which I’d expect of a one star motel on an American highway.
Stayed with family for one night. Rooms were comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, no fridge, ironing board and iron, hairdryer and large tv. My standard room on 3rd floor was more spacious with a bigger double bed super kingthan the more expensive executive room of another family member ground floor. Very reasonable rates.nnStaff were great, enjoyed the bar for a nightcap and a good breakfast can request vegan sausages. Parking was available on site.nnMaintenance was poor with a dangerous wobbly coffee table in my room and net curtains with a frayed hem. The toilet was so close to the large walk in shower screen that a tall person would struggle!nnA pleasant 20 minute walk in to the centre but plenty of buses and we caught a taxi back after a night out.nnWe would stay again.
