This hotel is unbeatable for its charm and location. You are in a very historic and charming place and you can feel it. The hotel is well staffed and maintained. Our rooms exceeded our expectations in terms of space and layout. It was like staying at your grandma's house. It isn't a modern place but the furniture is in good condition. The beds were super comfy and cozy. The Malin & Goertz bath products are phenomenal.nnThe front desk was very helpful and even secured us a later check out to give us extra time to transition back home. It was so appreciated.nnWe had purchased the half board package and ended up having a nice dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant, the Alice.nnWe had a nice drink in the drawing room and it really set a festive mood.nnWe look forward to coming back some day.
This hotel has real vintage charm and a historic vibe — exactly what you’d expect and want when staying in Oxford. The location is very convenient, and it’s an easy walk from Oxford train station, even with rolling suitcases.nnWe were greeted by Ankita at reception and ended up having some lovely conversations with her — it’s always special to meet someone from close to home when you’re thousands of kilometers away. She mentioned she’s getting married soon, and we wish her a big congratulations!nnWe have Hilton Diamond status, but booked a standard room via Amex Hotel Collection and were pleasantly upgraded to a suite.nThe room itself was simply wow. Having a Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine made mornings even better . Housekeeping was daily, including Christmas and Boxing Day, which we really appreciated.nnThe only downside was the room temperature. Something seemed off with the central system, and the team provided individual heaters. That affected our sleep a bit, but otherwise the stay was very comfortable.nnOne small detail I loved — the room key cards are designed like college ID cards of famous Oxford alumni. Mine had J.R.R. Tolkien on it, and I really wanted to keep it as a souvenir… completely forgot. Maybe next time!
We stayed here for two nights between Christmas and New Year 2025. Everything about our stay was perfect. The location is ideal, right in the middle of Oxford. The hotel itself is beautiful, a wonderful old building within which the rooms have been well maintained and are very comfortable. However the best part of all was the staff. Service was impeccable at all times, very friendly to talk with, and nothing was too much trouble. The best example of this was when we left a ring behind in our room, the hotel kept this for us and sent it on to our house. We are so grateful for this and the great stay we had - thank you!
Great hotel stay, first time visiting Oxford and we wanted a chilled time using the spa also. Had a few rooms booked as there was a few of us. Best massages we've received, I had the maternity massage and I'd love it again. Concierge are so friendly and helpful everytime we saw them. Reception check-in and check out was smooth, staff lovely. The only thing that disappoint me was it was my partners birthday and I asked for a birthday message to be in the room which was agreed prior arrival but that never happened unfortunately, however we had a lovely upgrade with a view and it was amazing. The rooms are beautifully decorated, cozy and welcoming.nWould recommend to others and deffo stay again.nI'd mention a few great staff members but none were wearing name badges.
I have twice stayed at this property and have always enjoyed the charm, quietude, sensibility, and location of the hotel. My second stay in December 2025 was truly a delight, made memorable by the gracious hospitality of Telma and Kunal, both of whom assisted me with a unique room request. Telma’s enthusiasm and knowledge about the property made for great conversation and Kunal made certain I was in just the right room! I thank you both for your kind service. I enjoyed my stay immensely.
