very nice place, amazing food and workers were lovely. Near the city centre, but in a smaller shopping area, in Summertown, very good location, there's a Costa nearby but I preferred the hotel's coffee. The room was very well decorated and bed was comfy, but did get quite hot at night.
Had such a lovely stay at the Galaxie Hotel in Oxford. The staff were genuinely so friendly and welcoming and made the whole stay feel really relaxed. The decor is beautiful and gives the hotel so much character. Breakfast was also amazing with loads of choice and really good quality. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!
We stayed at The Galaxie hotel over Easter break and I was very disappointed as it's listed as a 4 star hotel. The photos look great and the entrance and interiors online look good and eclectic with lots of personality which I like but in real life the hotel looks very tired and needs a good clean. Our room was very dusty and it felt like we were in an old storage cupboard, very pokey room with a big red drape curtain covering the ugliest window so no natural light. Staff were great and sweet but this felt like a budget bed and breakfast not a four star hotel!
Room was asthetically pleasing but the function of it wasnt great. I can only speak for my room on the third floor but its very hot and I had to keep the windows open all night even in Feb. The floors are all wooden so its very easy to disturb guests staying below you if you walk around after hours. Also the bed I had was 2 singles pushed together.. which yes, does happen but it has no grips on the feet so the beds constantly split apart on the wooden floor if you move making it a very uncomfortable sleep. Again, very nice to look at but I think some practical adjustments would make a big difference
We really wanted to love the Galaxie, especially since it gives off this posh, fancy 4-star vibe, but it honestly fell a bit short of expectations.nThe main reason for the 3-star rating is the cleanliness. Some details that we attached felt hard to not noticed and turned the vibe a bit around. That was a pretty big letdown.nOn top of that, the room had some weird, random noises happening at odd times, maybe the elevator, but was distracting when it happened.nTo be fair, there were definitely some bright spots. The breakfast was actually pretty good, and the ladies working the morning service were super nice and welcoming.nOverall, it’s an ok place to stay, our room was particularly small, it’s good for the price that we got.
