This used to be a great surgery, very responsive and supportive. They offered a morning walk in service, which was unheard of in the local area and always helped people with mildly urgent cases to be seen immediately. These past 2 years I have seen a shift towards the culture of the surgery, towards a more traditional approach. The doctors take 3 weeks to see you, the admin team has very strict rules on how to book appointments and in a general manner the culture of the surgery is less kind and approachable. Doctors are still good, and I appreciate all their support to me and my family, but would love if we could go back a couple of years in time.
My husband and I registered with this surgery 10 years ago, when we moved to the area. They had good hours, morning walk-in appointments and it was/is a decent sized practice. When we needed to see someone, we could. It was not super easy, but feasible. And then Covid hit. And it seems that our surgery is STILL stuck in it because it is impossible to see anyone. They keep hiding behind useless e-consult that is totally not fit for purpose. Pretty much like this surgery. They really seem to have forgotten that they are meant to be providing a service; that they are meant to be here for patients - people who need help with their health issues. Not Bellegrove Surgery though. They are doing us, the great unwashed public, a huge favour when/if we can get an appointment. I tried their wonderful e-consult today as I've been suffering from a constant back pain for a few days now. I got a date for a consultation. For NEXT Friday. I guess I will have to resort to calling 111 or going to A&E because this lot are of no use. They just don't want to know. I am not contacting surgery because I have nothing better to do with my life, trust me on that one... This system is broken and it needs fixing.
It used to be a good surgery, with good doctors, they always had very unfriendly and unhelpful people at the reception, but it was overall acceptable. Then covid came, with the fantastic invention of the e-consult, forget to call and ask for an opinion or help, you are always blindly redirected to the e-consult. If you need an answer you need to lie and put it worse than it is, otherwise they will call you 2/3 days after, to just talk you down or book an appointment after another 2/3 days if lucky. Thank God we don't often need to talk to a doctor, but with 2 kids you need to feel backed up. A friend told us that they also have the e-consult, but if you call you are answered and helped, time to move on, not recommended. Edit: I am adding a star after the last experience, I had support from the reception and I been able to see a doctor in a week for a non urgent matter
It's really difficult to see a doctor via e-consult. You have to answer huge questions and it could be failed to book if any of that questions is not answered properly. Please do understand not every body is very good at filling the form like NHS elite stuffs. Really make people's life more difficult.
I moved to the area during Covid so it was a difficult time to find a new doctors surgery and did find it a challenge as I’d also been diagnosed with cancer. The whole team is great and when I did have a face to face with Dr Cotter, he was thorough, understanding and really explained everything well. I have to have regular blood tests and they’ve always really tried to be as accommodating as possible and everyone I’ve dealt with is kind and really helpful. It makes such a difference to how I feel about my treatment to know they’re so supportive. Thank you very much.
If I could give 0 Stars I would. It is a very very bad surgery rude receptionist. Don't go there all the good doctor are leaving the surgery. Not responding to econsult. Or giving appointment 1 and half week later. Not only once. They tell you to to urgent care. Don't recommend this surgery at all.
Filled in an EConsul Form in yesterday 1/8/22 requesting to see a GP. Got an email back saying that the next available appointment is on Wednesday 10/8/22 with a Clinician what is that. I complained and said that I will be suffering until the appointment, the answer was we have a GPHub in Northumberland Heath on Saturday. Why should I go miles away when I have my own Doctors on my doorstep !!!
Used to be so good, then E-consult came in during the pandemic. Now barely can get an appointment. The E-consult system is very limited in its options and if you phone they just tell you to use the E-consult. We almost always end up taking our son to urgent care because it’s the only way he can get seen. We’re thinking of changing GPS because of it
It was very good surgery before COVID. The reception was much better back then. Don't know why after COVID, the reception always look very grumpy and not so helpful. They definitely need some customer care training. It made me really uncomfortable talking to them.
If I could give a 0 start I would! Since the starting of the pandemic not only they are not providing the service they use too but they're now preventing people from seeing the doctors by forcing everyone to use the e-consult online, which at best If one is lucky to go through it till the end, requires assistance by the extremely rude and patronising cartel of receptionists ready at any moment to hang up on you or to just plainly tell you off, what a service! from the surgery itself to be completed the way they want it to be completed. Doctor Cotter, I am so sorry but your surgery has deteriorated to become a shambles and it forgot it's true north, which is to serve the community :
