Wonderfully arranged... about 5 differently styled seating areas with plenty of room. Lovely views it is road-side but this doesn't detract Perfectly simple seafood-based menu which looks very appealing. A little bit pricey but the whole place is high end and everything is just that little bit special e.g. lovely wooden decking. Great range of drinks. Really worth a visit for food or a drink or both - plus a few more drinks !
Used to be one of our favourite pubs with really nice pub food. Has since been done up to cater for more high end dining and isn't nearly as good or a popular as it was, we went at lunch time and it was very quiet. A real shame as it was probably the nicest pub meal I'd ever had before it's face-lift.Service: 2/5
I had a great memory of this establishment from some years back. Didn't recognise it on my return. Great location, great views, shame about the limited menu. Food is good enough by provincial British standards however my perennial gripe about poor wine lists in British restaurants. There were more flavours of hot chocolate than available wines. The staff were tremendous, made for a very memorable family lunch.
Gone really downhill since it was taken over. Been going for the last 20 odd years to this place, always had cracking charm. Loved queuing up for pints of tribute at the bar. Locals used it as a boozer and the food was always epic. It's the complete opposite. Went for a sneaky pint. Got made to feel unwelcome. No atmosphere, could hear a pin drop. Soul less now. Such a shame. It wasn't broken. It didn't need fixing.
I ordered fish and chips. The batter was very dark in appearance and fizzy in the mouth, this should have not been served. No waitress asked how my meal was while at the table or when I paid. I would not recommend eating here.
Been here a few times in the past we're local to Bude and always enjoyed our visits. Unfortunately, the last 2 times we visited since refurb and new owners we didn't feel like we were welcome as we just wanted a couple of drinks and weren't having meals and spending a lot of money, we did have cheesey chips which as a whopping £7 they really weren't anything special. It's a shame as we did enjoy a pint on the balcony while enjoying the beautiful views but we definitely won't be going back anytime soon. Also my vegan relatives went there one time and were served chips with vegan cheese, next time they visited they asked for it again to be told they've never done that and they were wrong!! Safe to say they won't be returning either.
A lovely dog friendly place to eat, drink or just enjoy the view. There's also items for sale, pictures, crafts etc. Food OK- especially if you like sourbread unfort I'm not keen! Outside play area for children. They do accommodation, but I didn't stay so can't say anything about that. Staff really pleasant and friendly.
What the hell has happened to the Bay View? Used to love coming here for a pint and some food after a long walk on the beach. Now the bars shut, there’s some weird Christmas shop in the restaurant and the food is average and expensive . Real shame.Service: 2/5
Felt like we were in the way. Bar closed. Few staff. Apparently they had no chef but could do food. Xmas decorations were everywhere because they'd lost some storage? Had to wait ages to pay for two drinks and was on the point of leaving when someone arrived.Service: 2/5
Top star rating for the view. You really can't beat that. We've been twice in the week and the first experience was ok. Sat outside of as we had our dog, but had to ask for the table to be cleared before we ordered... 10 minutes in. The one kiddo had Spaghetti Bolognese and the other had a burger as well as my husband. I had the clam pasta with spicy sauce. I was given no bowl for the clam shells, but felt this was a bit petty on my part as they were very busy. Nothing to write home about. They clearly need more staff! Fast forward two days, a rainy day so only took bookings. Even busier. Ordered the pan fried chicken @ £19 in a creamy sauce. Rubbery chicken and the creamy sauce was SO cheesy but with green beans & broccoli mixed with the sauce? Just not what I expected... Perhaps chicken Alfredo? They need to rethink this meal. I sent it back after one bite and ordered a cheese burger with no bacon. It arrived with no relish, sauce or any other topping, i.e salad. Just cheese and a beef patty on a bun... As I complained before, I thought more care would be given and at least a nod to how my second choice of meal was. I got questions as we left which is too late in my opinion. My husband had a steak at £27 which was tiny and below par for the cost. Not a fillet, but looked like it wanted to be a rib eye, but only reached a tiny sirloin status? Very disappointing as I was simply unable to spend another cent and we left dissatisfied and £80 poorer. If you charge extortionate prices, it needs to be special and it was anything but that. ps: to be fair, we are tough customers as we have both worked/owned a restaurant, but this just seems like a wasted opportunity. The terrific view, good local ingredients and more staff could turn it into a money spinner/ great spot. I'm trying very hard to say something positive, the waiter was lovely, just rushed off her feet. Did I mention the view? The refurb is also top notch. Great loos, especially if you've been camping all week.
