New ownership and the plans they have for the hotel. Have had a meal at the hotel and was very impressed. Today, I ordered a takeaway pizza and am very impressed with the food. I will be going again soon. I am waiting for the reopening of the old Dutch Currage. A local pub back in the 80s and 90s. Fond memories. Well done to the new team. Good luck with the future developments.
Myself and my husband stayed here last month in one of the newly refurbished rooms and we have to say the stay was fantastic! The room was stunning, and the bathroom was amazing! Very sleek and stylish and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location of the royal is spot on too as the views are breathtaking! We got a fantastic last minute deal as we booked the night before our stay! We will definitely be returning!
The hotel is a perfect location to visit the beach and the town. An amazing view from our room. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable.nUnfortunately, due to the renovations, our water was switched off during the day. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating, offering us another room to wash in or swap to.nThe bar had a wide choice, and the staff, once again, were friendly.nI suspect that our next stay will be even better yes we've already booked!nPerfect location, amazing staff!
Arriving at the hotel our hearts dropped because of the shabby condition of the outside. Booked into our room in the middle of a building site. The next morning woken up at 8 o’clock by the workmen banging, sawing wood and shouting instructions. Apparently the staff had never been to see the noise and dust and weren’t keen to. We were finally moved to a better room which was no more than we had paid for. Unfortunately we will never forgive them for placing in the nightmare room. It gives an insight to the quality of staff working there. Whatever happens in the future staff in all departments except for one lady who tried her best need retraining. Apart from the position the hotel is mediocre at best and needs a revamp from the bottom up. At the moment it is hostel standard at best.
Lovely situation overlooking Whitby. The hotel is being completely refurbished, we were given one of the new rooms, very good. Hotel is quite dated. Tiny scary lift. Food good, nothing special. Advance booking of small car parks an absolute must if driving. The Royal is a little overpriced for what it is. Staff brilliant.
