Dinner was served to us here. When you enter, the restaurant, which is rather humble in appearance and has tables that are near to one another and a burner visible, smells of fish. We chose the tasting menu, which was delicious and enjoyable. We experienced various tastes and experiences. The fish was excellent, as was the meat. Exquisite! Eating several of the menu items with your hands was less enjoyable "possibly" certain meals did not include utensils and were not delivered to us multiple times. The desserts see photo were not my favorite; one was very sweet, and the other was overly dry. Service was adequate. We probably won't visit there again.
Wow, wow, WOW. Simply perfect from start to finish. Our host and all staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes. There was no pretense, just insanely good food. The oysters supercharged my expectations for the rest of the meal, and the hits just kept on coming. I really can't emphasise how much I loved here, I cannot wait to visit again.
Overall the food was divine, cannot think of any other adjective. The service was wonderful apart from the looong wait for the first course, when we had to ask the waitress for it. Staff very friendly. Also wonderful selection of wines. We spent 3 hours there and couldn’t feel the time pass by. Would definitely recommend and come back for the next menu.
WOW! Had such a wonderful tasting experience at Bastible. Every bite/dish was full of new flavour and everything was so tasty! Looking forward to try their winter menu! When you see the quality of the products & the amount of plate in the menu, this is definitely good value for money!
Good value for money! Fun set menu with great produce for a good price. All in all great value for great food, will want to come back. Great flavor with good wine pairing, but was missing that extra ‘oumph’ of flavor intensity in the dishes. As soon as the place started filling up the service got significantly slower, which led to an inconsistent experience. The staff was really kind and knowledgeable but the service did get slow and inconsistent.
Very good price point but small menu didn’t fully satiate us. The menu includes all canapés so it is seems much longer then what it is. Considering the price definitely a must go. The menu offers also a cheese add on. No signature dish menu changes regularly except for the bread which is prepared in the iron pot that names the restaurant: the “Bastible”. Good wine pairing to explore small producers. Very warm and friendly staff is coherent with a humble and down to earth ambiance. Very convivial experience more on the “hipster” side.
Experience Dublin 8 at its best. This spot serves a new interpretation of Irish cuisine paired together with a few French style elements. The open kitchen is very inviting and let’s you as a guest take a peek into an exciting crew‘s work! Be prepared to enjoy some of D8s tastiest plates such as poached oyster, beef tartar, smoked sea trout or petit fours - just to mention a few of the 9 courses! All of the courses are served with an fabulous selection of wine that the sommelier put together. One small piece of criticism would be around the drink temperature: champagne was not chilled enough. Other then that we really came across an excellent selection. Book way in advance to secure a up and coming D8 food institution.
Brilliant 8-course tasting menu for vegetarians & non-vegetarians alike to enjoy fully! Highly recommend the wine pairing which comes with generous pours of really special wines that are clearly well selected in terms of complimenting the meal itself. Each individual dish has a unique set of flavors that reflect local ingredients and flavors. My only complaint was feeling too full before the meal ended, but that's hardly something to complain about.
One of the best dinings in 2022 Perfection all the way through. Amazing value and various drink selections. All the staffs are very attentive and fun to talk to. Highly highly recommend this place. Me and my fiancé always pick the best dish after having tasting menu. After a bite of first dish oyster and beef tartare with confit potato, I thought that this one will be my favourite dish of the night. Even though I genuinely loved each and every dish, I picked chocolate and yogurt. It wasn’t easy to choose only one! Chocolate was like mousse which I’m not very fond of because there’s usually no texture. This was unexpectedly great. Micheline one star wasn’t a false advertisement! We’ll definitely go back soon.
Best dinner we’ve had in a long time! The place is perfect for a date or a celebration. The staff was very kind and explained each plate carefully .We had the best Galway oysters ever and the cocktails were fabulous too! Can’t wait to go back!
