Story

Auguste Handmade was created in 2012 by young multi skilled artist Victor Duchêne, a bicycle enthusiast and a passionate mechanic since childhood.

The Summer of 2015 saw him open the bicycle boutique, which combines his passions. Merging a bicycle workshop and showroom, with a quaint cafe space. A convivial space that seamlessly allows discussions, exchanges and creativity.

At Auguste Handmade, there has been little time to rest. We have been hard at work to find sustainable materials to combine with our products, encouraging the ever growing trend, of cycling in the UK.
We offer a personalised service to all of our customers, from general services, to a complete custom built, or bespoke bicycle, letting you choose the parts from the ground up. We encourage our customers to be creative, thus resulting in the bicycle of your dreams.

While sipping on your coffee, we will talk you through the creation of your bicycle. By first choosing a frame, considering your size and taste, it can be refurbished, or completely repainted in a colour of your choice. You can then choose each component of the bike. Our “Build your own bike” wall will guide you through the different possibilities.

By using vintage frames, selected from specific brands and origins dating from the 30s to the late 80s, we at Auguste Handmade aim to create bicycles, our customers will cherish for generations.

At the same time, we understand how wonderful it feels to change style, the comfort and the dynamic of a bicycle, giving it a new lease of life. We offer consultation and personalisation of your bicycle, by way of simple or fancy upgrades.

Once a month, in the early evenings our space transforms into a venue, we will be organising happenings, exhibitions and gigs. Feel free to contact us if you would like to use it for a specific purpose.
