ABOUT

Addresses don’t come much grander than 'Number One London', the popular name for Apsley House, one of the most interesting visitor attractions in London. Home to the Duke of Wellington after his victory over Napoleon at Waterloo, the interior of the house has changed very little since the days of the Iron Duke.
It boasts one of the finest art collections in London, with paintings by Velazquez and Rubens as well as a wonderful collection of silver and porcelain. Pride of place goes to a massive nude statue of Napoleon. Why not include a stroll through nearby Hyde Park, and a visit to nearby Wellington Arch for a great value family day out in London.

Much to do thing in London City if you around. It's the London residence of Duke of Wellington and family. Even most part of the house is open to the public but still family is living there in its private apartment. The house is in wonderful piece of art and still in its original or restored condition from the early 19th century. It has many rooms and galleries. The museum is full of gifts presented to the Duke is remarkable. Duke had really artistic mind which has been shown through this house interior. Decoration and furniture is still from same time period. There is an audio guide available which gives you the full detailed, history and info as well as each room also has a short printed guide to its contents. Highly recommended.
Not free, but definitely worth the price! The architecture and art collection in this house is amazing, and they had a great free with the ticket additional self guided audio tour alongside it allVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Apsley House, also known as the "Number One, London," is a majestic residence located in the heart of London, directly opposite Hyde Park. Built in the 18th century, the residence became famous as the home of Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, the renowned British commander who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815. Today, Apsley House is open to the public as a museum, showcasing the Duke's impressive art collection, including paintings, sculptures, and artworks from around the world. The residence also offers a fascinating insight into the aristocratic life of 19th-century Britain. The ticket is around 16 pounds but if you like history it deserves.
A 15 mins walk from London Victoria Stn, Aspley House is a must for military enthusiasts but also for anyone who loves seeing how major figures lived back in the day.. Duke Of Wellington House formerly known as Number 1 London, Is a delight of artifacts, with priceless paintings which the Duke brought in a lot and many of the items are just stunning. When I got there I paid and collect a audio tour guide that tells you all about the different rooms you enter also it has a activity button that you can have some fun with. There are toliets and the staff make you feel very welcome and it's right next door to Hyde Park.
A house full of treasures, history and beautiful interiors. The Duke of Wellington did very well Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Powerfully interesting experience - the audio tour is great and the explanatory books in each room are informative. Just the right amount of content is given so you feel informed, but not overwhelmed. The paintings and sculptures are so impressive and just being in that house is wonderful. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and good humoured. This is one of the best things I’ve done in London.
Packed with paintings, portraits, awards and gifts given to the prestigious Duke.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Really beautiful house and the closest you can get to how the duke of Wellington lived and how the battle of Waterloo played a role in history. Only the ground floor and 1st floor are open, and the entire tour will take about an hour or two at a stretch. Beautiful painting and art collected inside. Pricing for entry tickets is on the higher side considering how much time you can spend here/no of rooms. Worth a visit if you are a history lover and want to get a step closer to how one of the richest people in England once lived.
This is the London residence of the first Duke of Wellington and indeed his descendents. Most of the house is open to the public but I was told that the family still have private apartments. The house is in wonderful original or restored condition of the early 19th century and is full of artworks. The museum of gifts presented to the first Duke is remarkable. Decoration and furniture is all of the period. There is an audio guide available but each room also has a short printed guide to its contents. Highly recommended.
Greatly preserved house of a great man. Read ‘Napoleon by Andrew Robert’s’ to learn about what a man Wellington defeated. Well worth a visit
