I recently dined at Anglo and was thoroughly impressed by their tasting menu. Each course was impeccably crafted, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors and exquisite presentation. The service was superb, and the ambiance perfectly complemented the culinary experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining adventure.
Anglo Our first visit to Anglo in October last year turned out to be one of the dining highlights of 2023. Well I can honestly say that our return visit on Saturday will take some beating in 2024. The imagination , creativity and skill of chef Anthony Raffo is nothing short of genius as he puts together some amazing dishes using the very best British produce. To match this you have manager / sommelier Marie Danzavilliers with her absolutely amazing friendly service and drinks pairings that complement each course perfectly. The restaurant is only a short walk from Farringdon Station on St. Cross Street. When you enter you will see that it’s a small restaurant seating between 14 -18 guests. This is why they can manage with a a very small team giving you friendly and personal service. You will also see an abundance of jars which are filled with all sorts of pickled ingredients. Their food style is from foraging and pride themselves on not wasting anything in order to create more fabulous dishes. Our return on saturday started with a lovely welcome from Marie before showing us to our table. We decided to have a drink while we looked at the menu and chose the Earth Ale Spicy Weiss beer and the Strawberries on Sea gose. The menu is Eleven Courses including snacks and petit fours priced at just £85 pounds and there is also a supplemented dish if you so wish. This I have to say is one of the best value for money Tasting Menu’s you will find anywhere. There is also a Drinks Pairing which is Five glasses for £49 pounds that believe me is well worth trying. There is a choice of a smaller tasting menu at lunchtime. We opted for the full tasting menu with the extra course and for myself I chose to have the drinks pairing. This began with our first snack of a drinkable White Cabbage , Hampshire breed pork , parsley and rapeseed. This was followed by the second snack of the Norfolk sand carrot which was very clever indeed. Now it was time for the bread which is the Anglo Sourdough with yeast and wild mushroom. This leads to the first course with a wine pairing and oh my god what an absolute delight it was to. The Yorkshire Leek with potato , ramson caper , tunworth and three-cornered leek. The depth of flavour was incredible and something you’ll find in every course. The pairing was a 2022 Skin Contact “Maria” Madeleine Angeline from the Renegade Winery in Bethnal Green , East London. This was followed by my personal highlight of the day. The Line Caught Cornish Cod , hay , cauliflower , hazelnut and sea purslane was quite simply stunning. The cod was matched perfectly with a 2022 Le Besson , Domaine Batard Langelier from Loire , France. Now it was time for the supplemented dish of Hampshire Trout , wild rocket , herring roe , purple sprouting broccoli , broad beans and goat’s curd. We then moved on to two Duck courses with the first being an incredible Devon Duck doughnut with a fabulous walnut purée. This was followed by the amazing Devon Duck , hogweed seed and swede. The wine pairing was unbelievable because on its own it was ok but with the duck it became soft and fruity. This was a 2020 Biografico , Uve de Vida from Castilla-La Mancha , Spain. Now it was time for the cheese course and it was very clever and delicious. The Somerset Montgomery Cheddar with Isle of Wight black garlic and walnut amazingly tasted like a savoury tiramisu. The pairing was a Pure Mead from the Loxwood Meadworks in West Sussex. Your palate was then refreshed with a Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb with gherkin , dill and oxalis. Now it was time to finish was an absolute genius of a dessert. It was a Jack Buck Farm Celeriac ice cream with a charred celeriac skin and a meringue. The pairing was equally fabulous in the form of a sweet apple Somerset Ice Cider. We then finished with a coffee and petit fours of Hay fudge and beetroot. This brought an end to an incredible dining experience where the food was outstanding and matched with fabulous drinks pairings. I really can’t recommend a visit to Anglo highly enough.
I booked a table 24 hours before changing from another venue because this looked nicer based on the reviews. They’re correct - it’s a fabulous place. Small, intimate, friendly and the food is outstanding - creative, delicious, innovative and totally reasonably priced. It’s the best restaurant I can remember going to in London. So many restaurants feel over-priced and generic. This one is very special they also went out of their way to accommodate some complicated dietary requests
This is my favourite fine-dining restaurant in London. They use all UK-based ingredients, and half of the paring wines are also from the UK—the best place to introduce decent UK food to my visiting friend. The ambience is excellent. The staff is kind. She always explains the food and wines well with details of notes, colours, scents, tastes, etc. Those demonstrate to improve the experience because you would think what you expect. Until now, all of my friends I brought there told me it is the best restaurant they've tried in London. I think the price is also a strength of the restaurant, and I guess that is because of the location. If the restaurant was a bit west or east from the site, the price must be at least 50 pounds more expensive per person. The restaurant is firm with the sour flavour because they use fermented ingredients. Seafood lovers would like the place because they use seaweed flavour for the final touch. I like sour flavours and seafood, so it is the perfect place.
Absolutely amazing from the food to the service. The host explained everything in so much detail which enhanced the experience aswell as the food. The chef came out a few times also explaining some of the dishes which was great to see. Its a small place with only a few table making which make everything very personable. I would highly recommend the wine pairing.

In a city abundant with dining options, Anglo stands out as a beacon of innovation and exceptional service. The team at Anglo has created an extraordinary dining experience that goes beyond great food and service - they've crafted an unforgettable journey of taste and discovery that leaves you yearning for more!
This is a hidden gem. Went there for my birthday. The place is for special occasions and it is not on the cheap side but hear me out. It does not have a sophisticated interior, I would even dare to say it is very modest, so this is definitely not a selling point but once you start the chat with the waitress or you see the first dish, you forget about the walls or anything that is around you really So we had a 10 course tasting menu. The food was sophisticated, in addition it was paired with special wine, so we ended up trying a few types of wine and I think that is the moment I really felt how much of a difference it makes to choose the right wine for the right dish or the other way around . Even though I am not much of a wine lover or that kind of sophisticated food, I enjoyed the experience very much. And now, nothing remains for me to say but to post a few photos so that you can see what I mean
Almost the perfection!!! Everything was incredible! Without pretention and with a lot of love and carefull with the guests. I had a gluten free option, and it was wonderfull! Every wine was a great discovery, a lot of English wines, and the pairing with each plate was so nice. We will be back soon, thanks u very much!!! Dietary restrictions: Glutenfree option
One of the best meals I had in a long time. I thought I knew what my favorites were but then the desserts came and just finished off the meal in such a beautiful way. To the staff: be immensely proud of what you do, it’s absolutely top level. Flavors are strong and well though out. It’s easy to see how much effort and care is put into the food. Best dishes: black kale snack, carrot, Tunworth, fermented apple, buckwheat…. Wow guys thanks!
The whole experience was amazing. The food was exquisite and each course was really unique. The pricing is good even if you go for the wine pairing. Would highly recommend for any milestone you want to celebrate or even if you're in the mood to try some exceptional food.Food: 5/5
