Discovered The Clerkenwell Kitchen by chance as I was in the area so went in and had a look at the menu as I needed to find a restaurant for lunch. Mains were about £14 and there were a few that looked good. While I was there, I spotted this bread pudding which made me dine there. I am so glad I took a photo of the bread pudding because the presentation of that one was better the one served as the cream was not all over the place so I couldn't do the bread pudding justice. Settled for the Chalk Stream Trout Fishcakes with Marinda Tomatoes & Tartar Sauce. The roast chicken was tempting but then I saw a whole roasted chicken in the kitchen which means it is going to be reheated thus the fish cakes option. The fish cakes were made to order which explains the soft texture but had a few bones. Other than that, the whole dish was amazing and paired nicely with the tomatoes and dill dressing and tartar. Finished with the marmalade & chocolate bread and butter pudding with cream. When it arrived, the first thing I tried was the cream, I was really pleased it was not sweetened and it was interestingly warm which tasted like evaporated milk. The portion was quite big and satisfying, the best thing was that it tasted like proper bread and butter pudding with smooth egg and bread here and there. The dark chocolate complemented the marmalade orange peel nicely. Overall, I really recommend this place especially the desserts and it is good to see they serve proper bread and butter sides as opposed to the fancy stuff.
Understated interior that’s both inviting and relaxed features a daily varying lunch menu, a selection of lite-bites and a flirt of pastries. Distinguished by a mastery of fundamentals, quality seasonal produce and culinary nous. Reasonable prices and competent service. Recommended.
Try the tart, no really always try the tart! The food hear is always of an incredibly high standard and great value for money, service can sometimes be a little slow but the staff are good fun and its to be expected with great food at at a good price! Do try THE TART!Food: 5/5

The Clerkenwell Kitchen catered for our event of around 70 people for lunch. From start to finish they were brilliant. The food was delicious and portions very generous. They were considerate of all allergens and dietary requirements. I would highly recommend them!Food: 5/5

Hosted my 30th birthday here privately and couldn’t have imagined a better experience. Not only was the food and overall vibe amazing, but the team couldn’t have been more accommodating to make sure the event went perfectly. Would recommend this restaurant for any important occasion - thank you again!Food: 5/5
Went for a private function organised by Cocktails, Canapes & Cupcakes. Food was delicious and very filling. The area is quiet as its away from the hustle and bustle of the city and has a nice area outside for summer months.
