A BREED OF OUR OWN. Anderson's Bar and Grill is a premier steakhouse in the Midlands. Based in a 17th Century cellar in St Paul's Square, Birmingham.

Story

We are the West Midlands’ premier, award winning steakhouse and we pride ourselves on offering rare breed beef. Situated in the picturesque Georgian Square of St Paul’s Church, we reside in the eighteenth century cellars once known as The Bucklemaker.

With our expertise and passion, we endeavour to create a great atmosphere and a high quality of service and food.

Our aim is to give you a relaxed and informal approach to dining at the best possible value. So, whether it’s a business lunch, a romantic dinner for two or a party with friends, we hope to be wining and dining you very soon.

We went here for Valentine’s Day and the staff were very friendly. They took our coats and seated us quickly. We got the Ribeye steak and the Surf and Turf. We mentioned my boyfriend had some allergies and they were very comforting and made sure the kitchen was made aware. The steaks were cooked to perfection. With the steaks you got veggies to share, which personally I think could have been more since we were sharing. We then got the deconstructed white chocolate cheesecake which was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. So overall the food was great and the staff were great and we would come back.

21st birthday celebrations for my son. Classy environment, friendly staff too. Fantastic meal, steaks were soooo tasty and filling. Sauces were superb and the sides were fresh and perfect. I had the trout, delicious. No room for dessert...so full. Would definitely recommend, such quality.

I had been looking forward to eating at Anderson's for some time and upon arrival was impressed with the ambience and decor of the restaurant. We were offered the choice of drinks at the bar or at our table so we opted for drinks at the bar and devoured some lovely cocktails. Once at the table we ordered starters, mains and some bread and olives for the table. The bread and olives were good, although there was not much bread considering we were charged x2 for this (although in the menu it stated £2.95 for the table) - in total just this was billed at almost £14 - we complained and this cost was halved. The starters and mains were okay, but I wouldn't shout about the food. The main disappointed the most. I ordered the surf and turf and the steak was quite chewy and a lot of bits that were so fatty they were inedible - my wife ordered the smaller version of the steak and had no such problem so I felt the extra £5 for the extra 2oz was mainly just gristle and fat - disappointing. The onion rings were amazing, the chips were good and the scallop was good on the surf and turf. There was nothing dreadful about the meal but it wasn't an amazing meal which is what I was hoping for. I think a solid 3 star average/good is fair.

The food here is always perfect - a good selection of steaks and other meals. The cocktails are also highly recommended. The food is exceptionally well-priced given the quality and the staff are always warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit, especially around special events like Valentine’s Day and Christmas.

Crafted steaks in a comfortable setting. Staff were very professional knowledgeable about the quality and background of the steaks on offer. We had two first class filet steaks that had been aged and cooked to perfection. Having lived in the United States for many years we think we know a little about steak and can say today’s offering is right up there with any New York, Texas, or Mid West steak house at a much cheaper price. Thanks to Tony the manager for taking the time to share his extensive knowledge of the product. Very impressed.
