Extremely mediocre food that was quite expensive. My husband got the steak for £25 and it was the smallest one I’ve ever seen. He said the mushroom ! was the best part of it, as everything else was tasteless, including the gravy. I got the burger, which cost £18, and it was just about edible - very dry, patty was overcooked, barely any cheese or sauce in it… I could’ve made a much better one at home for a fraction of the price.nThe menu mentioned non-alcoholic drinks and beers and “to ask the staff about their wide range”. The waitress knew nothing about it, and told me they only had one non-alcoholic beer, which according to the menu that I saw after ordering is not true.nWe ate at their rooftop garden very limited food menu up there, which was a nice spot on a sunny day, and the only positive thing about the experience.
Nice pub. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, perfect for hanging out with friends. We grabbed a mix of food and a couple of share plates and everything came out hot and tasty. Portion sizes were generous too. They’ve got a solid drinks menu with a good range of beers on tap, plus a few nice cocktail options. Service was friendly and pretty quick, even though the place was getting busy. There’s a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, good if you want to enjoy a drink outside. Would definitely come back for another round!
I like to go here after a day at Wimbledon Tennis Grand Slam. Always great atmosphere and the food is amazing. Had the pie and it was so good. Salt and pepper squid was nice too. There is a great selection of beers wine and spirits. The crowd is very relaxed and there is always a chat to start somewhere. Looking forward to my next visit
This place is fantastic. Has an amazing atmosphere and it’s super lively. He had a great time grabbing some late night drinks here! I’ve been coming to Wimbledon for over 10 years and I wish we had found this gem before. They had live music on the Friday we went.
Occasionally pop into 'The Alex' for a Sunday roast and a beer. It's a very popular venue in the heart of the town so best to book if you're in a group although there are usually a few walk-in tables as well. It has arguably the tastiest 'roast' on offer amongst the local pubs including those up in the village so is usually my first choice. Friendly, efficient staff and an excellent wide choice of drinks.
