This morning my husband was about to be served at the checkout when the man at the till stopped and checked all of his empty shopping bags in case he was hiding goods in them. He actually said that that was why he was doing it. On finding nothing, there was no apology. There are a minority of excellent staff at this branch but, in the main, I agree with the latest reviews. The majority are at best indifferent and at worst just plain rude.
Nice fridges, but the customer service has definitely declined.nnThis store used to be a great place to shop, but no longer the case. Was waiting on the self-service for someone to help and out of the three customer assistants present, two actively avoided eye contact and pretended I wasn’t there—even though my checkout was flashing red. Thankfully, the third person eventually stepped in to help.nnOver time, customer service seems to have reverted to how Aldi used to be: poor and unresponsive. It’s disappointing to see that some things never change. Thanks for the reminder, Aldi.
If I could put 0 stars I would. They charged me twice for my shopping, said it was pending, when both transactions went through customer service told me to go to the store with my statement and they would refund me, imagine my astonishment when I did that and spoke to the manager Andy he said it hadn’t, brought me a sheet of paper with about a dozen transactions and said look only one of your amount is there. I questioned this and told him I’d make an official complaint, his response was “your barred” since spoke to CEO dept and even though they have seen our statements they are still denying we’ve paid twice. Go onto Martin Lewis money saving expert, this is a common occurrence! There is loads of comments saying exactly the same thing, apart from being barred, I’m 69 years of age and this is a first for me! The first manager kept my first receipt, what’s going on? It make me very suspicious, robbing pensioners of their hard earned money. I could easily be in a negative situation in my bank account which would have meant not being able to pay bills. I would imagine this would be the case for a lot of people at the moment !
Very disappointed today, busy and only two tills open, self service the usual drama, when you need help the two store people were so busy chatting that I was totally ignored, had to actually interrupt them to get help. Not good enough.
We always shop at Aldi in Alnwick as the staff are so brilliantly helpful and efficient. Today was no exception. The three staff I spoke with today were Ethan, Lewis and Louise. They went out of their way to make my visit a pleasant one, pointing out everything I needed to know including offers, location of products and helping on the self service area. They also engaged in general conversation and displayed an appropriate sense of humour. The products are always top notch. I don't know how it's taken me so long to praise the staff as they are always so efficient and friendly.Would it be possible to give Ethan, Lewis and Louise an immediate pay rise please as they have made my day once again!
