Not my usual supermarket. Different products to choose from and little pricier. Lovely fish counter with good range of unusual shellfish. Meat selection offers plenty of choice and not just the usual cuts. Purchased beef cheek which I made a hearty stew with. Definitely check the place out again.
What was once a very good supermarket has been steadily going downhill since being taken over by the present owners. We regularly find that we have to seek our trolleys and today was no exception. No baskets at the entrance either. Empty freezers and low levels of stock throughout the store. On the other side, the staff are trying their best and are generally more than pleasant. Signs are not good for the longer term.
Never see a manager, always queues at tills, shelves often half empty. Shame as meat and veg are good quality. Give me a Tescos any day, but there are none around here
OK apart from the lockable trolley cupboards being full with empty trolleys..Had to walk all the way to car, unload, go back then into the cafe, my food was OK but could have done with being a bit warmer..
Was really annoyed on Sunday - made a special trip from the other side of Rothbury - almost 60 mile round trip - I wanted fresh pizzas from the pizza counter. Before I could tell the woman what I wanted, she said We close at 4!! I mentioned that it was only 3 o'clock. Her response was that she would not help me as she stops making pizzas at 3 cos it takes her an hour to clean up. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Wouldn't shop at this one again, felt like a staff member was watching me felt uncomfortable and the lady on my till was quite unpleasant , miserable too.. The girl in the cafe who served me was pleasant enough.
After my experience today with the store manager and shop assistant, I will not be shopping here again. I came in to purchase wine and got declined as they believe my ID did not match due to my skin conditionvitiligo. After this encounter their excuses were the staff member would have lost their job if they approved this transaction and that the staff member had a similar skin condition caucasian member of staff - not noticeable as mine due to race. I have logged this discrimation complaint to their head office.
Went for 3 for £10 meat offer any only one available at £4.50. Butcher was very unhelpful Shelves were poorly stocked. Lots of 3 for 2 and 2 for 1 offers but with limited stock on shelves.
Staffing is an issue at this store; insufficient till operators, shelf stickers and store cleaners. You should never have to queue for longer than 5 min, the shelves for everything should be ready for when the customers arrive not filled during opening hours, heavy cleaning equipment should not be used during opening hours unless this was a 24hr store in which case it should be scheduled for less busy periods, and too often customers are competing with store workers to fill baskets for home delivery. This should be retained for the warehouse so that the customer has a better shopping experience.
I do like this store in Morpeth but the car park is a pain in the a**e. As you drive in there are always vans or campers parked & it is difficult to see what is coming around from the main carpark. The store itself is well stocked. I do think it's a bit confusing with the reward card if you self check out, which I did do as I only had a few items and the queues at the tills were fairly busy.
